Sorry that I missed posting my report for Friday so I will try to include important data and highlights from Friday in addition to my normal report for Saturday. Partly to mostly sunny, milder, snow melting update for West Rockville Maryland on Thursday, March 22 2018

Partly to mostly sunny, milder, snow melting update for West Rockville Maryland on Thursday, March 22 2018

Thursday became mostly sunny mid-day but with high clouds, and middle-to high cloud overcast by evening, milder than yesterday with unfortunately a good part of our newly acquired snowpack melting away from the strong March sun. One more last memory of the full snowpack is reflected in today’s featured image taken on Wednesday afternoon.  I must admit to an error in some of my Wednesday reports as to my total precipitation for Wednesday. I reported in one place near the…

Cloudy, colder, sleet and snowy update for West Rockville Maryland on Wednesday, March 21 2018

Wednesday, the first full day of spring, featured unspring-like weather with cloudy skies, even colder temperatures, and sleet and mostly snow most of the day (0.32″) that adversely affected many in the area, with closed schools and even the federal government, treacherous roads in places, and associated other travel problems. Temperatures remained at or just below the freezing mark all day. The Wednesday maximum temperature from the VP2 (33.1°) was recorded at 1751 while the minimum temperature (29.8°) was recorded…

Mostly sunny, milder update for West Rockville Maryland on Sunday, March 18 2018

Sunday featured sunny skies, warmer all day and in fact the warmest day (so far) of March, and warmest day since February 28 when I hit 63.3. Temperatures are once again warming quickly through the 40s this Monday morning, with highs in the 50s under sunny skies expected again today. During the mild afternoon around 1430, the Aqua Satellite flyover was occurring over my location, so I took my daily GLOBE cloud observation at that time. Today’s featured image was…

Mostly cloudy, cold AM, minor snow event update for West Rockville Maryland on Monday, March 12 2018

Mostly cloudy, cold AM, minor snow event update for West Rockville Maryland on Monday, March 12 2018

On Monday, we had mostly cloudy skies, cold with temps holding in the 30s most of the day, just topping over the 40° in the late afternoon. A snowstorm was building to the S and W moving in on our area, but didn’t materialize anything more than a scant trace at my location, and never accumulating on the ground, even on the grass that I saw. Other locations in the region got as much as 1-2 inches, and a lot…
