Cloudy, foggy, mild early AM, then clearing, warmer afternoon, then clouding up again evening update for West Rockville Maryland on Thursday, March 29 2018

Thursday was cloudy and milder with light fog during most of the AM hours, but by late morning the fog lifted and the sun came out, eventually warming our afternoon into the mid 70s making it the warmest day of the month. Temps remained mild throughout the evening, staying in the low 70s past midnight, despite clouds returning ahead of our rain showers coming for most of Friday. The Thursday maximum temperature from the VP2 (74.3°) was recorded at 1849 while the minimum temperature (47.1°) was recorded at 0705. Dew point temperatures rose significantly today, ranging from a low of 46° at 0033 up to a high of 60° later at 1732. Relative humidity values lowered a bit from yesterday due to the afternoon drying, warm sun (96% – 52%) . Barometric values continued to fall most of the day, ranging from a high of 30.04″ at 0001 down to a low of 29.74″ much later at 2254.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDrockv200#history/ I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/ Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I use the data I post to cocorahs as my “official” precipitation total each day.

I somehow arose in time to take a shower and go over to Building A for the weekly trivia game. It was so warm I wore my shorts and crocs without socks and of course no jacket. I sat out front upon my return for a few minutes to catch some of the sun’s late afternoon tempered rays. I started to work on finishing my February data spreadsheet, almost completed now.  It was opening day for Major League baseball, and I caught action from many games, though my beloved Yankees game against Toronto was not on and I had to see highlights on the internet and ESPN’s sports center.

Overnight Thursday into Friday skies have been cloudy and have remained mild, only falling out of the low 70s in the early first few hours of Friday, but only sinking as of 0330 to the mid 60s. Rain is on our doorstep and should be around much of the later morning hours into the afternoon, with even a chance of some thunder and lightning to accompany the rain. Cloudy on Friday with a 60 POP for showers and gradually cooler, with highs early in the mid 60s but dropping late into the low-mid 30s. Sunny on Saturday, wrapping up the month of March, with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low-mid 40s. April Fools Day/Easter Sunday should start April out mostly cloudy with no chance of rain, highs in the low-mid 50s and lows in the mid 30s. Monday should be mostly sunny and remaining relatively cool, with highs in the low-mid 50s and lows in the lower 40s.

On the Weatherbug weather radar website at 0441 scattered light rain showers can be found just to my SW in central VA and points W and SW, headed this way. The showers have become somewhat spotty, so the hit or miss showers probably will not add a very significant amount to our total March precipitation unfortunately.

As of 0441, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows:
