A mostly cloudy, mild, dry update for West Rockville Maryland for Friday November 3 2017

Friday started out sunny but with increasing clouds starting in the AM and turning mostly cloudy during most of the PM hours. Temperatures were mild once again in the low 70s for highs and upper-low 50s for minimum values. Cloudy skies have continued overnight with temps dropping nicely since midnight obs. Dew points rose a bit more today, rising into the low 60s later in the day but starting to drop late/during the overnight. At 0750 we have mostly cloudy skies (high) but still dry. Temperatures are in the mid 40s with dew points in the low 40s. The Friday minimum temperature from the VP2 (53.6°) was recorded at 0738 while the maximum temperature (72.1°) was recorded at 1532. Dew point temps ranged from 52° up to 63°. Relative humidity values rose a bit today (98% – 70%). Barometric values lowered a bit more today, ranging from a low of 30.05″ at 1351 up to 30.23″ at 2358.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

I spoke on the phone with Bobby Miller for quite a while about traveling and the weather – he went to western
Nebraska in August to view the eclipse and see the great train yards out there and many things in between. He lives in northern Carroll County Maryland. He is a top-notch official COOP observer (for over 30 years) who hopefully will be able to come to the big Herb Close weather party in a week on November 11.

Friday was mostly cloudy and still mild. It is cloudy out there right now on this Saturday morning. Saturday looks to be mostly cloudy and cooler, with highs in the mid 50s, lows in the low 50s with a 60 POP for showers. Sunday looks just cloudy and a bit warmer with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the upper-mid 50s and only a 20 POP for rain. Monday looks a bit warmer and partly to mostly cloudy with highs around 70° and an 80 POP for showers with lows in the mid 40s. Tuesday should cool back down into the mid 50s under partly cloudy skies with lesser chances of rain (20 POP) and lows down in the upper 30s. A bit cooler on Wednesday with highs in the low 50s and lows in the 30s but still no real cold air intrusions for the foreseeable future as it looks now.

On the Channel 4 weather website at 0750 their radar shows scattered rain showers over southwest VA and western NC moving slowly to the NE which may turn out to be our rain later today.

As of 0750 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :

Station Relative Location Temp RH DP    BP      Wind   High/Low temp today
VP2              Ground          45.4  83 41  30.34R   NA     72.1/53.6

There was no rain in the cocorahs gauge on Friday. The VP2 tipping bucket rain gauge under my balcony also recorded no rain on Friday.

November precipitation is 0.00″.

Year-to-date precipitation total is now 36.41″

The Lakewood CC Wx Bug station high/low temperature reported in yesterday’s report was incorrectly reported as 59/41. It should have been reported as 76/46. Thanks to Rick Holden for the feedback on this unfortunate error.

The Lakewood rain gauge recorded 0.00″ of rain through midnight on Friday.

Temp from the VP2 at 2400 was 58.9 RH 77% BP 30.23R DP 51.7. Cloudy and still mild at midnight .

Good morning from the lightly cloudy, cooler, still dry Walrus early on this Saturday.
