A partly cloudy, milder, still dry weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Sunday October 15 2017

Sunday was a partly cloudy, milder, still dry day with no rain falling that I know of through midnight obs. Temperatures varied a bit more today, ranging from the low 70s to the lower 60s. Dew points ranged from the upper 60s down to the low 60s. Now at 0612 we have cloudy skies with light rain finally falling. Temperatures are now around 60° with dew points in the upper 50s. The Sunday minimum temperature from the VP2 (62.3°) was recorded at 0530 while the maximum temperature (73.4°) was recorded at 1616. Dew point temps ranged from 68° down to 61°. Relative humidity values were about the same as yesterday (98% – 81%). Barometric values dropped even further today, ranging from 30.17″ at 0000 down to 29.84″ at 2148.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.

I was up in the late afternoon to catch some football action. I snacked on some kimchee, seafood salad, the rest of the orzo salad as appetizers, then cooked up some frozen bratwurst on the Foreman grill, on toasted brat buns, pickles, mustard and a slice of cheese. I also had some steakhouse grillin’ beans and some marinated mushrooms and spicy pepperoncini. In the evening I caught the surprising 23-10 victory by the Giants over the Broncos out in Denver.

We now have a cloudy sky with light rain falling at 0612 Monday. Monday will cool down nicely with some AM rain, then clearing with afternoon high temps in the low 60s and lows in the upper 30s. Tuesday should be sunny with high temps in the low 60s and lows around 40°. Wednesday should start warming up with sunny skies and highs around 70° with lows in the mid 40s. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the upper 40s on Thursday and Friday, again with sunny skies.

On Weatherbug at 0612 the radar is showing mostly light showers moving SW to NE through the region as a cold front moves through our area. Rain should continue for a few more hours, but clear my area by late morning.

As of 0612 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony), the Lakewood WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :

Station Relative Location Temp RH DP    BP     Wind   High/Low temp today

There was no rain in the cocorahs gauge on Sunday. The VP2 tipping bucket also recorded no rain on Sunday. However since midnight to the present time 0.04″ has fallen in the VP2 tipping bucket.

October precipitation is now 1.36″.

Year-to-date precipitation total is now 34.92″

VP2 Across the street (USG) NA NA NA 30.00R NA NA/NA

There was no rain reported once again in the USG gauge on Sunday as the VP2 continues not to function properly. The USG VP2 continues to stay offline all day and is not providing much data (save for barometric pressure readings).

WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 60 96 58 30.00R E 1 G WSW 5

The Lakewood rain gauge reported no rain on Sunday. However, it has recorded 0.02″ since midnight and it has been raining off and on the past several hours.

Temp from the VP2 at 2400 was 70.6 RH 88% BP 29.89R DP 66.9 Cloudy at midnight .

Good morning from the cloudy and lightly raining on the Walrus early on this Monday.

    1. Hi Cathie. I heard from Nathan a few hours ago that he is planning to give Josh a call sometime Wednesday to talk about coming over to Weather Together. Josh had some technical problems with WordPress and also is quite busy right now. Hope Nathan can convince him to come on over. I told Josh that you and Cathie were asking about him.
