Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444 I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDrockv200#history/ I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/ Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I actually use the data I post to cocorahs from my 4″ cocorahs gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Wednesday was partly cloudy and cooler, with highs in the lower mid 70s and lows in the upper mid 50s. Thursday should be partly cloudy with highs in the upper mid 70s and lows in the low 60s and dry. Friday should warm up into the mid 80s under partly cloudy skies, with lows in the mid 60s. Saturday should continue warm with mostly cloudy skies and an 80 POP for thunderstorms, highs in the mid 80s, lows in the low 60s. Sunday looks to cool off with partly cloudy skies, highs in the mid 70s, lows around 60°, and a 40 POP for AM showers. Monday looks to a bit cooler and cloudy, highs in the low 70s and lows around 60°.
The Channel 4 radar at 0550 is clear in the 4 state mid-Atlantic region and immediately surrounding states.
As of 0550, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WX Bug station are as follows:
Partly cloudy, dry and pleasant
Station Relative Location Temp RH DP BP Wind High/Low temp on Wednesday
VP2 Ground 58.6° 87% 55° 30.08″R NA 73.5°/57.8°
The total precipitation in the cocorahs gauge was 0.00″ through midnight Wednesday. The VP2 tipping bucket also showed 0.00″.
Wednesday’s precipitation was 0.00″
June precipitation 1.72″
Year-to-date precipitation total 20.14″
WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 58° 87% 54° 30.05″R Calm G WNW 6
140° from station 72°/57°
The Lakewood rain gauge recorded 0.00″ of precipitation on Wednesday. However June total precip rose from 4.29″ to 4.58″ with the 2018 year-to-date (YTD) amount rising from 30.32″ up to 30.61″. I definitely continue to believe that at times the great disparity between the Lakewood WX Bug station precipitation amount total for the month and year and my cocorahs gauge based data is that the Lakewood precip values are estimated/adjusted from radar.
At 2400 obs Wednesday night the temperature from the VP2 was 61.5° RH 80% BP 30.02″S DP 55.3°
Partly cloudy, pleasant and dry at 2400 Wednesday
Good morning from the partly cloudy and pleasantly dry home of the walrus early on this Thursday.
