Cloudy, a bit cooler and slightly wetter update for West Rockville Maryland on Tuesday, March 27 2018

Tuesday was cloudy, a bit cooler in the PM but warmer in the early AM, breaking our freezing min streak (through 3/27 22 of 27 days have had freezing mins this March – correction to yesterday’s report). It was still breezy at times, with a trace of afternoon sprinkles. Temperatures rebounded later to reach the mid 40s by mid-afternoon, held down by all the cloudiness. The Tuesday maximum temperature from the VP2 (44.0°) was recorded at 1543 while the minimum temperature (32.7°) was recorded at 0337. Dew point temperatures continued to moderate some, ranging from a low of 25° at 1054 up to a high of 38° a bit later at 1956. Relative humidity values were a bit higher than yesterday (90% – 53%). Barometric values stayed high early, but dropped off significantly later, ranging from a high of 30.68″ at 0014 down to a low of 30.22″ much later at 2352.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDrockv200#history/ I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/ Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I use the data I post to cocorahs as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday skies were cloudy with light rain showers starting to fall towards sunrise. Temps only dropped off through the 40s during the night. Sub-freezing minima look to be gone over the next few wet, mild days. Wednesday should be cloudy with an 80 POP for rain, with high temps in the mid 50s and lows in the mid 40s. Thursday should be cloudy/foggy in the AM with sun in the PM and temps soaring well into the 70s for what should be our warmest day of March. Also the warmest min of the month should occur, with lows only falling into the mid-upper 50s. Partly cloudy on Friday with a 90 POP for AM thunderstorms and gradually cooler, with highs early around 60 but dropping late into the mid 30s. Sunny on Saturday, wrapping up the month of March, with highs around 60° and lows in the mid 40s. April Fools Day/Easter Sunday should start April out partly cloudy with AM clouds and PM sun, with highs in the mid 50s and lows just above the freezing mark.

On the Channel 4 weather radar website at 0711 scattered light rain showers cover most of the central MD and DC areas, with a lot more rain falling further out to the west, moving ENE and will gradually work into our area later in the day and through much of the week.

As of 0711, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows:
