Partly cloudy, much less stormy with slowly decreasing winds, seasonably cold update for West Rockville Maryland on Saturday, March 3 2018

On Saturday, storm conditions started to wind down, with partial sun returning and winds starting to lessen throughout the day. No more power or cable outages on Saturday thank goodness. After early AM lows in the low-mid 30s, high temps reached the upper 40s by mid-afternoon. The Saturday maximum temperature from the VP2 (48.0°) was recorded at 1401 while the minimum temperature (33.6°) was recorded at 0652. Dew point temperatures remained relatively low all day, ranging from a low of 23° at 0005 up to a high of 30° at 1222. Relative humidity values lowered today (67% – 49%). Barometric values started rising at midnight and peaked just about 24 hours later, a trend similar to yesterday’s, ranging from a low of 30.04″ at 0006 up to a high of 30.28″ very late at 2358.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I was not able to post to any of these internet apps for Thursday, but have done so now, completing the efforts with the posting of this email.

I did watch much of the Caps/Maple Leafs hockey game live outside in the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis on NBC. Caps played well and won the game 5-2. It was quite a special event. Clear, cold weather was great for the game which was not the thinking with our big windstorm the past few days.  With 10 minutes left in the game, with teams switching ends, the power went out on the main lights focused on the rink, so there was a delay. I can’t say that it was weather caused, which they thought it might be, but winds had lightened considerably and I doubt the failure was directly related to high winds.

We had partly cloudy skies early on Saturday with still some high wind gusts, but gradually all day the winds lessened and there were no more power or cable or internet problems. Temperatures rebounded into the upper 40s after a start in the early AM just above the freezing mark. Our high wind warning was changed to a high wind advisory early on Saturday morning and by late Saturday was allowed to expire. Sunday should be partly cloudy with continued lessening winds, temps reaching 50° for highs and lows in the mid 20s. Monday should be seasonable and sunny with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 20s, then rain showers should be returning on Tuesday (40 POP for PM showers) with highs in the mid 40s and lows around freezing. Wednesday it will once again be cloudy with an 80 POP for rain showers, highs in the low 40s and lows in the upper 20s. Partly cloudy and a bit colder on Thursday, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s.

On the Channel 4 weather website at 0719 radar is showing an area of light snow in parts of northern NY, and an area of scattered showers over parts of Arkansas and areas to the south and west at this time.

As of 0719 the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows:
