A partly cloudy, warmer, humid weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Friday September 15 2017

Friday warmed under partly cloudy skies with no rain (see featured image for a nice sun setting illuminating image just about 10 mins prior to actual sunset about 1905 EDT). Temperatures rose into the lower 80s with lows in the lower-middle 60s. Today was the first time since September 5th that we rose above the 80° mark, and only the second time all month (so far). Dew points were in the 60s all day. Now at 0556 we have clear skies with temperatures in the low to mid 60s with dew points around 60°. The Friday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground below my balcony (63.2°) was recorded at 0631 while the maximum temperature (80.8°) was recorded at 1628. Dew point temps remained rather flat like yesterday, ranging from 61° to 68°. Relative humidity values were a bit lower than yesterday (93% – 57%). Barometric values rose from yesterday, ranging from 29.97″ at 0106 up to 30.11″ at 2356.

Remember now you can get the ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

We now have clear skies with temperatures in the low-mid 60s at 0556 Saturday. Saturday and Sunday should feature scattered to partly cloudy skies with high temps in the low 80s with lows in the mid 60s and only a 20 POP for rain both days. On Monday partly to mostly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid 60s with a 40 POP for rain as Hurricane Jose draws closer to the mid-Atlantic coastline from the southern/eastern Atlantic.

On Weatherbug at 0556 the radar is mostly clear throughout most of the Eastern U.S. north of Florida and east of MN and IA.

As of 0556 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony), the Lakewood WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :

Station Relative Location Temp RH DP BP Wind High/Low temp today
VP2 Ground 64.5 95 63 30.11S NA 80.8/63.2

There was no rain in the gauge on Friday (cocorahs gauge – now located off the apartment property across the street from my initial two locations just off the inactive putting green – near the Montessori School playground. No sprinklers there at all on this county property).

August precipitation was 4.39″ (believe this is in error – I will have to research the numbers in the next few days)

September precipitation through midnight obs tonight was 2.56″.

Year-to-date (YTD) precipitation total is 33.86″

VP2 Across the street (USG) NA NA NA 30.15S NA NA/NA

There was no rain reported once again in the USG gauge on Friday. The USG VP2 stayed offline all day and is not providing me most data sets (save for barometric pressure readings).

WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 67 84.8 61.8 30.11S NW 1 G NW 5
140° from station 82/65

The Lakewood rain gauge reported no rain on Friday.

Good morning from the partly cloudy and mild Walrus early on this Saturday.

  1. Thanks Charlie. Nathan said that Live Chat was open but I went to it on the site and didn’t see any action there . It said I had to be a registered user to chat and signed in, but I am both of those requirements right now.
