A cloudy, damp and slightly wet AM yielding to a mild, variably cloudy and humid PM weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday September 14 2017

Thursday started out cloudy and damp with a brief period of occasional light rain and fog in the early morning around 0500-0600 (0.02″) then variably cloudy and milder as the day wore on into the afternoon and evening, with no more rain the rest of the day. Temperatures warmed into the upper 70s with lows in the middle 60s. Dew points were in the 60s all day. Now at 0710 we have clear skies with temperatures in the low to mid 60s with dew points around 60°. The Thursday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground below my balcony (64.9°) was recorded at 0216 while the maximum temperature (78.2°) was recorded at 1650. Dew point temps flattened out from yesterday, ranging only from 63° to 67°. Relative humidity values were a bit lower than yesterday (97% – 64%). Barometric values rose slightly from yesterday, ranging from 29.84″ at 0246 up to 29.98″ at 2351.

Remember now you can get the ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I rose later in the afternoon to attend my lease recertification meeting with the apartment management at 1400 at the leasing office. I returned to have a late breakfast of cereal, a banana and coffee. I caught up with Tracy on her way to work in the late afternoon, then Robin later by phone (she got approved for a new place in a different part of town to move into later this year) and face-time with the usual Gideon bathtub entertainment and Robin controlling the phone camera. I had a late lunch of a grilled everything bagel, with left over turkey sausage links and cream cheese. Yummy! I was exchanging emails with my friend Laura about our lunch get-together on Monday. Looks like we will take advantage of Tracy’s suggestion to go to “Full On” craft brewery and lunch spot. Also I attended the weekly trivia game in building A next door between 1830 and 1930. I then had some left over chicken and yellow rice for dinner while watching the Thursday night football game, won by Houston 13-9 over Cincinnati. I had some spicy low-sodium V8 juice right around dinner time, and plenty of water and vitamins throughout the evening.

We now have partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid 60s at 0710 Friday. Friday through Monday should see high temps from the upper 70s to low 80s with lows in the low-mid 60s under scattered to partly cloudy skies and only a 10-20 POP for rain.

On Weatherbug at 0710 the radar is clearer than it has been in a while, with just some light showers offshore of the mid-Atlantic states out in the Atlantic and light scattered showers over parts of coastal New England.

As of 0710 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony), the Lakewood WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :

There was no rain reported once again in the USG gauge on Thursday. The USG VP2 stayed offline all day and is not providing me most data sets (save for barometric pressure readings).
