Another mostly sunny, hot and humid weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Friday July 21 2017

Friday was yet another mostly sunny, hot, and humid day with no rain. Only a few scattered fair-weather cumulus dotted the sky at times in the heat of the afternoon. The temperatures rose up to the opprressive low-mid 90s about a degree warmer high temp than yesterday after lows in the mid 70s during the early AM hours. Now at 0550 we have partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the muggy upper-mid 70s. The minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (76.4°) was recorded at 0637 while the maximum temperature (94.2°) was recorded at 1625. Dew point temperatures were about the same as yesterday, ranging from 77° to 70°. Relative humidity values were a bit lower than yesterday (82% – 53%). Barometric values were lower than yesterday, ranging from 29.97″ at 0837 to 29.85″ at 1821.

Remember now you can get the new VP2 location data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I woke up in the early afternoon for a physical therapy initial appointment with Jenny, a 90 minute fact finding session and discussion of future session schedules and content. After she left, I caught up a bit on email and FACEBOOK, then I went to our apartment association’s annual barbecue in building D. I met more new people and had some really tasty typical barbecue fare of bbq chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers and potato salad with ice tea, then a cupcake for dessert. It was nice to have someone else do the cooking, and barbecue food is something I have missed mostly so far this year. I came back to the apartment and rested a bit as I got the after meal drowsies. Then I talked with Marty and Robin in the early evening before taking on a spontaneous session of scanning old family photos and posting them through a PDF to many on email, and a few pics of my daughters on FACEBOOK. Otherwise I had a quiet rest of the evening, and did have 2 small sandwiches of deli lunch meat and cheese on rye. I missed talking with Tracy on her way to work since I was at the barbecue during her small window chance to call in between her busy 2 shift day at their 2 locations. Later I continued working on “Weatherquack” items. I hope to see many of you on http://www.weatherquack.com real soon – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period. I also drank some H2O from my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have partly cloudy, muggy but dry skies with temperatures in the upper mid-70s at 0550. Partly cloudy skies on Saturday, with highs in the low-mid 90s and lows in the low-mid 70s, we have an increased chance at showers/storms, quite possibly severe in the late afternoon (80 POP). Mostly cloudy on Sunday and a bit cooler, with highs in the upper 80s, which may end our modest 6 day “heat wave” of 90 or higher max temps, assuming we top the 90 mark on Saturday, and lows in the low 70s and a 20 POP for showers/storms. Monday should be a tad hotter again with partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the low 90s and lows in the upper 60s and a 20 POP for rain. Cooler temperatures should kick in the rest of next week, starting with highs on Tuesday in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s under partly cloudy skies and no chance of rain.

On Channel 4 radar at 0600, our late afternoon Saturday storms are currently in much of northern OH at this time, looking like a MCS to me which if it holds together could give us a wild late afternoon on Saturday. There is also another area of storms over much of Illinois that also may move our way Saturday late evening, but still need to see how they continue to develop as to their severe storm level intensity in our area.

As of 0600 EDT, the data from the VP2 is now coming from the ground radiation shield a few feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony and the Taylor has been replaced with the Radio Shack thermometer for the time being (on the balcony – max temps especially read too high).
