November 16-30, 2020 – cooler, wetter end of the month after a dry, seasonably mild early part of the period from West Rockville Maryland

A seasonably cool, generally dry period covered the last half of November with the exception of the rainstorm on the last day of the month (1.00”). Max temperatures mostly held in the 50s with mins mostly in the low-mid 40s but there were a few 30s and even upper 20s on a few days scattered through the period.

There were no thunderstorm days with 2 Sunny/Clear days, 7 Partly Cloudy and 6 Cloudy days.

The minimum temperature for this period was 29.0° on the 19th.  The 29.8° reached late on the 18th was my first freezing minimum temperature of the season. Definitely later than normal, but the average first freeze date has been getting later and later as we get increasingly more influenced by the global warming factor. Only those 2 days reached the freezing min mark during the period. During this latest 15 day period the highest temperature reached was 66.1 degrees on the 26th.  4 days had max temps in the 60s, 9 days in the 50s and 2 days in the 40s.  There were 9 days with mins in the 40s, 4 in the 30s, and 2 days in the 20s.

Daily precipitation amounts, max/min temperature values, general sky conditions, and the peak wind gust (PWG) for each day of the period include:

11/16 0.00 57.5 41.8 Partly Cloudy, cooler, dry, continued breezy – 43 W

11/19 0.00 50.8 29.0 Sunny, cold AM, moderating a bit PM, winds slacken off a bit as they veer more to the SW – 24 SW

11/30 1.00 60.2 46.4 Cloudy, mild AM, moderate-heavy rain at times (mostly AM), some threatening severe wx PM in the region but no storms were observed at my location, breezy at times – 27 NW

Only 3 of the 16 days in the period received measurable rain, most all on the last day of the month (1.19″ total). So November finished out  at a total amount of 3.79” with the current year to date amount now up to 48.33″.

The current temperature is 38.8 degrees at 2255 on December 1 under clear skies with winds currently blowing 10-15 MPH from the NW. The max temperatures look to be holding the 40s over the next few days with rain coming in at the end of the week and over the weekend, accompanied by a bit cooler than normal max temps, remaining in the 40s and low 50s through the period.
