Our stay below freezing only lasted one day, as Friday’s max temps reached into the upper mid 30s after lows in the low 20s in the early AM under sunny, calm, dry skies. Dew point temperatures raised into the low 20s by early afternoon, after starting out in the mid teens at midnight. 

The maximum temperature was 37.4 degrees at 1450.

The minimum temperature was 22.2 degrees at 0504.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 15 degrees @ 0000 up to a high of 23 degrees @ 1356.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 80% @ 0513 down to a low of 54% @ 1227.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.40 inches @ 0023 up to a high of 30.59 inches @ 1433.

The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 15 MPH at 1358 from the E.

There was no precipitation Friday. My December monthly total precipitation is 2.57 inches.

There was no snow on Friday. My seasonal total snowfall is 1.4 inches. The year-to-date precipitation corrected total is 48.68 inches. I made a three inch transcription error back around Thanksgiving that I found while compiling my November summary for NJWO.

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

The pre-holiday preparations have begun and, as usual, I am already way behind with a rapidly mounting activity list. On Friday, I slept in some and worked on email and personal matters, especially my November weather summary for the NJWO. I got a grocery delivery order in the early evening, so now I have some much-needed food to eat through Christmas. I had a tuna fish salad sandwich with cheese and sliced tomatoes on a sliced untoasted everything bagel along with some deviled egg potato salad and a delicious chocolate chip muffin (they didn’t have my favorite chocolate chip cookies available this time unfortunately) Later on I had some bite size Mounds candy bites that were also really yummy. I checked my mail around the time for rummikub but no one was there to play with. 

Saturday should start to moderate the temperatures under partly cloudy skies, with highs around 40 and lows in the low 20s. A strong LOW over the SE US with lots of rain will only move northward as far as southern VA with strong HIGH pressure over our region. We will just have high clouds at times from the outermost bands of the storm.

Sunday should moderate some more, under partly cloudy skies, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the mid 20s.

Next week through Christmas on Wednesday looks partly cloudy and mild, with high temps in the low 50s and lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. 

At Midnight Friday, clear skies with a temperature of 29.2 degrees, relative humidity 65%, pressure steady at 30.57 inches with a dew point temperature of 19 degrees.

Currently at 0759 EST Saturday the temperature is 25.5 degrees under high cirrus and cirrostratus dry skies, relative humidity at 78%, barometric pressure steady at 30.57 inches, and the dew point temperature at 20 degrees. Winds are averaging 3 MPH over the past 10 minutes from the SSE. Peak wind gust since midnight has been 7 MPH from the E at 0412.
