Mostly cloudy, warmer update for Saturday, March 30, 2019 in West Rockville Maryland
As I write this early Sunday, two of the Final Four spots have been determined with the other two being determined on Sunday afternoon/early evening out of the Regional Finals coming out of the 4 Regional Centers around the country. In close, hotly contested games Saturday, Virginia beat Purdue in overtime 80-75 and Texas Tech beat top seeded Gonzaga 75-69. Today’s games are between top seeded Duke and 2nd seeded Michigan State and 5th seeded Auburn challenging SEC rival 2nd seeded Kentucky. The winters today will join the winners from Saturday in the Final Four that will be played in Minneapolis starting in about a week.
Saturday was mostly cloudy and warm, with high temps in the mid 70s after mild early AM min temps in the low 50s.
The maximum temperature was 75.2° at 1644.
The minimum temperature was 51.6° at 0712.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 44° @ 1224 up to a high of 49° @ 2054.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 82% @ 0704 down to a low of 35% @ 1641.
The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.09″ @ 0001 down to a low of 29.75″ @ 2347.
Saturday had no precipitation. My March monthly total is still 4.65″ with my year-to-date total at 11.67″.
No snow/sleet fell on Saturday. My March total snowfall is 2.5″ with the seasonal total at 26.8″.

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. For example during our big snowstorm back in mid-January the snow didn’t melt at all during the storm, and only started to record precipitation amounts a few days later when the sun and above freezing temperatures started to melt the snow.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day. I also use a snow stake outside my balcony window to get an idea on how much snow has fallen (while it is snowing) and how much snow is on the ground.
Sunday should turn cooler along with more clouds and a good chance of showers, highs around 60° and overnight lows down into the upper 20s.
Monday should be cooler but sunny, with highs around 50° and lows around the freezing mark to usher in the month of April.
Expect more clouds on Tuesday and milder, with high temps in the low 50s and lows in the upper 30s.
Wednesday should be mostly sunny and milder, with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 40s. Mostly cloudy and mild, with highs once again in the mid 60s and lows in the upper 40s.
Midnight Saturday night found the temperature to be 66.1°, relative humidity 51%, pressure falling at 29.75″ and the dew point at 47.4° under cloudy skies.
Currently at 0644 the temperature is 61.9° under cloudy skies, relative humidity at 66%, barometric pressure rising at 29.69″, and the dew point at 50°. Radar is showing rain showers in the region but not quite here at my location yet, some returns are quite light and not hitting the ground yet.
Good morning from the snowless walrus on this cloudy but still dry Sunday. With peak bloom of the famous downtown Washington DC Cherry Trees in the Tidal Basin expected tomorrow, trees and shrubs around here are looking more springlike also.
