Partly cloudy, dry and even milder with high temperatures reaching just over the 50° mark after a cold early morning with lows about 2 degrees below the freezing mark. Perfect for most Valentine’s Day activities, except for winter sports enthusiasts. I played trivia in the mid-afternoon, then socialized in the party room in my building for a few hours. I just got my hearing aids operating late last night, and it sure was nice to hear everyone so well. 

The maximum temperature was 50.5° at 1601.

The minimum temperature was 29.9° at 0631.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 22° @ 0107 up to a high of 31° @ 2355.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 76% @ 0708 down to a low of 35% @ 1513.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.15″ @ 1054 down to a low of 29.89″ @ 2354.

Thursday had no precipitation. My February monthly total is still 1.47″ with my year-to-date total at 5.05″ for 2019.

No snow/sleet fell on Thursday. My year-to-date snowfall is still 16.7″ with the seasonal total at 18.8″.

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. For example during our big snowstorm back in mid-January the snow didn’t melt at all during the storm, and only started to record precipitation amounts a few days later when the sun and above freezing temperatures started to melt the snow.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day. I also use a snow stake outside my balcony window to get an idea on how much snow has fallen (while it is snowing) and how much snow is on the ground.

Friday cloudy and milder, highs around 60° with lows dropping a bit down into the low 30s.

Saturday should be partly cloudy and colder with highs in the low 40s, lows in the low 20s. Our chances of snow have moved south of my area in the central VA area as of this morning’s forecast. 

Sunday should be cloudy with highs around 40° and lows around 30°. A mostly rain chance Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday should be cloudy and dry, highs in the mid 40s on Monday and highs on Tuesday in the low 40s with lows in the 20s.  Another small chance for mixed snow/rain late on Tuesday evening.

Wednesday could be our next good snow chance, with highs in the mid 30s and lows in the low 30s. Stay tuned on this one. 

Midnight Thursday night found the temperature at 46.7°, clear, relative humidity 55%, pressure falling at 29.89″ and the dew point at 31.5° under partly cloudy skies.

Currently at 0635 the temperature is 50.0° under cloudy skies, relative humidity at 52%, barometric pressure now falling at 29.78″, and the dew point at 33°.
