Friday was a partly cloudy, warm, dry day with a rise in dew point temperatures after a milder early AM. Temperatures rose from an early AM low 60s to the upper 70s in the mid-afternoon. Dew points remained relatively high, at or above the 60° mark for the first time in several days, ranging from 60° up to the mid 60s. Now at 0830 we have a sunny sky with broken high cirrus clouds and temperatures in the low 60s with dew points around 60°. The Friday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground below my balcony (61.3°) was recorded at 0715 while the maximum temperature (79.3°) was recorded at 1331. Dew point temps ranged from 60° up to 66°. Relative humidity values were a bit higher than yesterday (96% – 57%). Barometric values fell off more today, ranging from 30.13″ at 0837 down to 30.03″ at 1647.

I was up in the mid-afternoon to get ready for the 1500 rummikub game downstairs. I had my usual late breakfast of cereal, banana, and the first of the new coffee my daughter Tracy brought me yesterday. I talked with Tracy after the rummikub game on her way from one shift in Gaithersburg to another in Germantown. I got ready for my Giant Peapod grocery order that was delivered around 1900. I resupplied a lot of necessary items, particularly milk and other dairy, plus frozen vegetables and a nice piece of beef roast and fish and seafood. I watched the Yankees unfortunate 2nd game loss 9-8 in 13 innings to the heavily favored Cleveland Indians. I also caught a bit of the Nats unexpected first game loss to the Cubs, 3-0, and the Dodgers 9-5 win in Game 1 of their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks out in LA. Dinner was a frozen “Screamin’ Sicilian” deluxe 9″ pizza with mushrooms and extra cheese I added. I thought it was delicious! Later for dessert I had some Friendly’s Butter Crunch ice cream along with a few chocolate chip cookes that also came in today’s order. I also caught up some on my email and facebook messaging later during the evening and set up my new electric toothbrush charger that was delivered today. I had some prune juice and spicy low-sodium V8 juice right around dinner time and plenty of water and vitamins throughout the evening.

We now have scattered cirrus through a sunny sky with temperatures in the low 60s at 0830 Saturday. Saturday will be mostly sunny with some clouds around, warm and dry, highs in the mid 80s and lows around 70° as more humid air starts working in – a 40 POP for late thundershowers Saturday night. Rain/thunderstorms looks like a good bet on Sunday (80 POP) and just rain, heavy at times possibly on Monday (100 POP), with highs in the mid-upper 70s and lows in the upper 60s. What is left of Tropical Storm Nate should be hitting our area with hopefully only beneficial soaking rains that we really need on Monday. Partly sunny and warmer on Tuesday, highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 60s. Generally showery and cooler weather should follow the rest of the workweek from Wednesday through Friday as it looks now.

On Weatherbug at 0830 the radar is showing showers well to my north over upstate New York, southern Ontario, extending westward out to much of WI and MI at this time. Rain bands can start to be seen out in the Gulf of Mexico from approaching Cat 1 Hurricane Nate, with landfall soon along the Gulf Coast between New Orleans LA to Mobile AL sometime early Sunday.
