A partly cloudy, comfortable, dry update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday September 7 2017
Remember now you can get the ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444
We now have clear skies with temperatures in the low-mid 50s at 0535 Friday. Friday through Monday should be mostly sunny with only a few scattered clouds at times, highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s through Sunday and lows in the mid 50s on Monday. The remnant rains of Irma may be coming in on Tuesday, with temps in the 60s under cloudy, rainy skies. Right now it looks like Irma will strike southern FL as a Cat 4 hurricane, and then run right up the spine of the state and move northward into Georgia and into the eastern parts of the Midwest as the week progresses. Stay tuned for updates.
On Weatherbug at 0543 the radar is showing showers over parts of the Great Lakes states, but staying to my north as it moves generally eastward.
As of 0543 EDT, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony), the Lakewood WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :
Station Relative Location Temp RH DP BP Wind High/Low temp today
VP2 Ground 52.0 93 50 30.02S NA 69.8/56.1
There was a trace of rain recorded on Thursday (cocorahs gauge – now located off the apartment property across the street from my initial two locations just off the inactive putting green – near the Montessori School playground. No sprinklers there at all on this county property). My VP2 rain gauge recorded 0.01″ of rain. My detailed weatherlink records showed that this 0.01″ fell at 1300. Not so sure that that is accurate.
August precipitation was 4.39″ (believe this is in error – I will have to research the numbers in the next few days)
September precipitation through midnight obs tonight is 2.44″.
Year-to-date (YTD) precipitation total is 33.74″
VP2 Across the street (USG) 57.8 76 50 30.16S NA 71.8/56.9
There was no rain recorded once again in the USG gauge on Thursday. There probably still is a major blockage of some sort in the gauge. Not sure how that is going to get fixed and when, unfortunately.

Good morning from the clear, dry and pleasant Walrus early on this Friday.
