WEST ROCKVILLE MARYLAND WEATHER UPDATE – THURSDAY JUNE 3, 2021
Thursday warmed up a bit with dew points starting to climb into uncomfortable levels, topping the 70 mark by midday. We had a partly to mostly cloudy day with
thunderstorms developing by the late afternoon. I had a few loud booming thunderclaps around 1730-1815 and some impressive lightning flashes, both cloud to cloud and cloud to ground at that same time. Rainfall was light (0.14″) and was not particularly intense for any length of time. Max temps reached the low 80s by mid-afternoon but trailed off some during the convective activity. The winds picked up a bit from Wednesday veering to a more westerly direction, maxing out during the thunderstorm. Barometric pressures fell off from their highest readings in the very early morning hours to their lowest just prior to the start of the thunderstorm in the late afternoon.
Friday should remain mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s and strong chances of continued showers and thundershowers.
Drying out heading into the weekend and early next week with mostly to partly sunny skies, dry and hotter, with highs in the low 90s and lows from 65-70. A bit less
hot towards mid week with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s with increasing chances of showers and thunderstorms.

Currently at 0604 AM EDT Friday we have cloudy skies with a temperature of 69.2, barometer 29.93″ and falling, relative humidity 92%, dew point 67 , winds S-SW at
less than 5 MPH. No rain has fallen since midnight into the tipping bucket VP2 gauge at the USG site across the street from me.
Today’s feature image was one taken Wednesday evening with a cloudy sunset. It is basically showing the usual view looking west past my cocorahs 4-inch rain gauge
through cloudy, still dry skies.
