October-16-31 2020 Wetter towards the end of the period with several foggy days earlier in the period with up and down temperatures to finish out October in West Rockville Maryland
Several mild days into the low-mid 70s with dense early morning fog started the period with a big rainstorm from the remains of Tropical System Zeta (1.86” – our third wettest day of the year) near the end of the month highlighted this second half of October. Monthly rainfall (3.27”) was just a bit below normal while temperatures wound up a bit above normal.
There were no thunderstorm days with 1 Sunny/Clear day, 7 Partly Cloudy and 8 Cloudy days.
The minimum temperature for this period was 36.3° on the 31st. During this latest 16 day period the highest temperature reached was 75.8 degrees on the 22nd. 5 days had max temps in the 70s, 7 days in the 60s, 3 days in the 50s and 1 day in the 40s. Only 2 days had mins in the 60s. There were 7 days in the 50s, 6 in the 40s, and 1 day in the 30s. Once again we failed to record a freeze during October. This trend is growing into a new “Global warming normal” for my station during this century.
