There was precipitation on five of the days of this period, highlighted by the deluges on the 13th brought on by another vigorous LOW and accompanying strong cold frontal system. The lowest dew points in the 20s/30s occurred during the colder middle period with the highest just before and during the heavy rain on the 12th-13th. With the increase in daily rainfall, fire danger remained low.
I think my seasonal snowfall of only 3.0 inches of snow with no March accumulation is unfortunately complete. There was a bit of snow flakes falling in the area in the colder mid-period but none observed at my station.
Other than the strong, blinding, very windy thunderstorm on the 13th, no severe weather was encountered in the period.
April weather continues cool, with frequent light rains continuing. Cherry and other tree blossoms are suspended in bloom now, as the continued cool temperatures have put a hold on further leaf development. Normal “leaf out” usually occurs in early May.
The current temperature is 36.9 degrees at 0652 with clear skies as winds abated overnight. The temperature should remain cool/below normal through most, if not all of the rest of April with more rain to follow also.
I took the featured image picture back on April 13, showing the heavy rain falling at that time. I posted much more separately last week about this very eventful day.
