Clearing out, turning colder, quite windy start to November update for Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

I got busy with post Halloween and end of month weather activities so I have to combine Friday and Saturday weather observations and my usual commentary into this one message early on this Sunday morning.

After all the storm activity on Halloween and the cold front blew through, the skies cleared, the temperatures dropped, and the winds continued strong into Friday morning but slowly abated through the later part of the day and into Saturday. High temperatures both on Friday and Saturday only reached around the 50 degree mark, and after a low of about 40 at midnight observation time on Friday, dropped into the lower 30s, just missing setting our first freeze on Saturday morning.  Dew point temperatures dropped quickly from the mid 40s at the very beginning of Friday and generally dropped down to around 30 in less than 24 hours and remained in the low to mid 30s for most of Saturday.

Friday

The maximum temperature was 49.9 degrees at 1423.

The minimum temperature was 40.2 degrees at 2359.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 45 degrees @ 0000 down to a low of 30 degrees @ 2320.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 85% @ 0000 down to a low of 49% @ 1645.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.78 inches @ 0000 up to a high of 30.34 inches @ 2225.

The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 45 MPH that was recorded at 0206 from the NW.

There was no precipitation on Friday. My final October monthly total was 6.32 inches. The year-to-date total is now 44.57 inches.

Saturday

The maximum temperature was 50.9 degrees at 1538.

The minimum temperature was 33.3 degrees at 0712.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 29 degrees @ 0215 up to a high of 36 degrees @ 1840.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 88% @ 0751 down to a low of 51% @ 1613.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.33 inches @ 0120 down to a low of 30.12 inches @ 1732.

The highest daily peak wind gust recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 17 MPH that was recorded at 1356 from the SW. Please remember that this anemometer is at a non-standard height of 60 feet above ground level (AGL), which can cause greater wind speeds than at the standard 33 feet AGL.

There was no precipitation on Saturday. My November monthly total is 0.00 inches. The year-to-date total is still 44.57 inches.

My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:

https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

2 quite busy days after Halloween! It was the end of month weather statistics to gather and the beginning of the month statistics to start. Plenty of football action plus the usual rummikub game Friday night. Unfortunately the Badgers had a bye week this weekend but there was plenty of other action to watch. I had some leftovers and a big tossed salad for big meals during the two days, and some sandwiches of tuna and eggs/sausage and cheese and crackers to tide me over.

Sunday and Monday should sunny and chilly, with highs around 50 on Sunday and up in the mid-upper 50s on Monday with possibly freezing lows around 30 early Monday morning and upper 30s on Tuesday morning.

Warming up midweek Wednesday and Thursday into the low 60s for highs and low 40s for lows under partly cloudy to cloudy skies but remaining dry.

Friday will turn cold once again, with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s under sunny to partly sunny skies and blustery.

At Midnight Saturday, clear skies with a temperature of 42.9 degrees, relative humidity 74%, pressure rising at 30.16 inches with a dew point temperature of 35 degrees. Winds were averaging 4 MPH from the W.

Currently at 0825 EST (clocks changed several hours ago – all times henceforth will be in Eastern Standard Time) Sunday the temperature is 41.9 degrees under sunny skies, relative humidity at 76%, barometric pressure rising at 30.25 inches,
and the dew point temperature at 35 degrees. Winds are averaging 5 MPH over the past 10 minutes from the W. Peak wind gust since midnight has been 12 MPH from the NW at 0105.

Good morning from the walrus on this sunny November Sunday.
