Cloudy, mild,  evening light rain update for Wednesday, October 30 2019 from West Rockville Maryland – Washington Nationals win their first World Series!!!

On Wednesday, we had cloudy skies all day, with a bit milder temperatures, and evening light rain (0.38 inches). The highs reached the mid 60s by mid-afternoon after lows in the mid 50s degrees in the very early morning hours then only dropped into the upper 50s by midnight observation time with the light rain. Dew point temperatures obce again held in the 50s all day.

The maximum temperature was 64.9 degrees at 1417.

The minimum temperature was 56.0 degrees at 0001.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 53 degrees @ 0000 up to a high of 59 degrees @ 1520.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 95% @ 2150 down to a low of 79% @ 1420.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.30 inches @ 0820 down to a low of 30.07 inches @ 2345.

The highest daily wind speed recorded across the street on the roof of the new USG building was 16 MPH that was recorded at 2239 from the SE. Please remember that this anemometer is at a non-standard height of 60 feet above ground level (AGL), which can cause greater wind speeds than at the standard 33 feet AGL.

There was 0.38 inches of precipitation on Wednesday so the October monthly total is now 4.54 inches. The year-to-date total is now 42.79 inches.

My current downstairs station data is now showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:

https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

I had a busy day once again on Wednesday. Once again I didn’t get much sleep due to heightened activity, mostly due to finishing up the compilation of my 107 Halloween trivia question project and the Washington Nationals 6-2 win in the 2019 World Series and postgame celebrations and extensive interviews.  I had some cereal for breakfast, and had slightly doctored up (with additional shredded cheese and hot spices) leftover spaghetti and meatballs that I finally finished up. I had another toasted almond bar for dessert along with plenty of water and hot pomegranate tea.

On Thursday it will be cloudy and quite mild with periods of light rain till midday or thereabouts and evening thunderstorms, quite possibly severe, with highs in the mid 70s and turning colder late with lows in in the upper 30s as a strong cold front blows through from the W in the evening.

Friday through Sunday should be sunny and chilly, with highs in the 50 to 55 degree range and lows in the low 30s as we start off the month on a colder November note, with our first freeze very possible sometime over the weekend.

At Midnight Wednesday, I observed cloudy skies with light rain with a temperature of 59.2 degrees, relative humidity 95%, pressure falling at 30.07 inches with a dew point temperature of 58 degrees. Winds were averaging 5 MPH from the SE.

Currently at 0817 Halloween Thursday morning the temperature is 65.6 degrees under cloudy, occassionally rainy skies, relative humidity at 96%, barometric pressure falling at 29.92 inches, and the dew point temperature at 65 degrees. Winds are averaging 7 MPH over the past 10 minutes from the S. Peak wind gust since midnight has been 23 MPH from the S at 0538.

Good morning from the walrus on this currently cloudy, damp, mild early Halloween Thursday.
