Partly to mostly cloudy, warmer, more humid but still dry update for Saturday September 28, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

It was a mostly cloudy AN  to a partly cloudy PM, warmer and more humid by the afternoon but still a dry Saturday. Low temps in the mid 60s in the very early morning hours rose into the mid 80s by late afternoon. Dew point temperatures were still relatively low (upper mid 50s) in the early AM hours, but rose into the low 70s by late afternoon, more humid than it has been in a while.

The maximum temperature was 84.3 degrees at 1719.

The minimum temperature was 64.5 degrees at 0314.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 57 degrees @ 0235 up to a high of 72 degrees @ 1815.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 88% @ 0820 down to a low of 63% @ 1625.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.12 inches @ 0755 down to a low of 30.05 inches @ 1535.

There was no precipitation on Saturday so the monthly total is still 0.42 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.08 inches.
We have officially been declared as “abnormally dry” right now and very close to the moderate drought line.

My current online data is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

Unfortunately a recent development was found that is a discrepancy between my wxlink data and my VP2 display data. I noted this a week ago Friday when the low temperature came in as 50.2 degrees as I saw it in real time on my VP2 display, but on other sources tied in with wxlink I had a low of 52.8. Other variables also were a bit different. I don’t understand this discrepancy which I continue to notice in my records. I need to study close by VP2 stations in wunderground to see if I may be getting signal interference from another station all of a sudden. In a probably related development, I also continue to notice wind data for my station in wxlink (and therefore also in my weather underground data) a few days ago and has continued (And I have no working anemometer connected to my station). In a further development from Thursday afternoon, Marty was over helping me out and noticed on his way home VP2 station equipment at the top of the new University of Shady Grove building across the street. We looked for it online but couldn’t find it, but it possibly is still transmitting its data that my station is picking up but not being published online yet except to infiltrate my records. More updates to follow.

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day. I haven’t been able to do this very much this month unfortunately since precious little rain (only on two measurable days all month) has fallen from the sky.

Saturday was the big game day between my Badgers and visiting Northwestern. Weather was not an issue as previously thought yesterday. It was a defensive struggle and the Badgers scored 2 defensive TDs in the 2nd half to help them win the game 24-15 when their offense wasn’t performing as well as earlier this season. I woke up a bit late and missed most of the first half, but most of the game action was in the second half. I had a salami and cheese sandwich for lunch, plus coffee. I watched more football into the evening, and received my Safeway order about 1930 when I happened to be dozing off. I put it all away by 2000, and had some yummy southern style potato salad for a light dinner while continuing to watch more football including part of an Ohio State blowout win over home-standing Nebraska 48-7 and Notre Dame’s 35-20 victory over Virginia. I really wanted to watch the premier fall episode of Saturday Night Live that featured a lot of satirical humor over the recent Trump activity but I dozed off and missed it. I should be able to watch it on their website on the internet sometime later.

The snowstorm with several feet of snow possible in the highest elevations out in the Northern Rockies is still “on schedule.” as far as I know.

Sunday should have more sun and still about as warm as Saturday, with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the low-mid 60s.

Monday should be cloudy and cooler, with showers possible as we close out this very dry September with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 60s.

October will start on Tuesday with a brief hot spell with high temps in the 80s then low-mid 90s on Wednesday with lows in the mid-upper 60s.

Thursday should be cloudy and not as warm with showers possible, highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low 60s.

A cooldown to more like fall starts on Friday with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s under partly cloudy skies that should continue over the weekend.

On Midnight Saturday, mostly clear skies with a temperature of 75.1 degrees, relative humidity 79%, pressure rising at 30.11 inches with the dew point temperature at 68 degrees.

Currently at 0649 Sunday morning the temperature is 71.1 degrees under clear skies, relative humidity at 88%, barometric pressure rising at 30.18 inches, and the dew point temperature at 67 degrees.

Good early morning from the walrus on this cloudy, still pleasant Sunday.
