Partly cloudy, hot, humid, still dry update for Monday, September 23, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland
Mostly sunny, hot through mid-afternoon, then clouds increased thereafter as light showers tried to fall through the dry atmosphere and never did accumulate any observed, measurable rainfall all day. Low temps in the early AM were in the upper 60s rising into the low 90s for daily highs by mid afternoon then slowly dropped with the increase in clouds and with evaporative cooling from the showers falling above but never reaching the ground. Dew point temperatures were at their highest in the mid-morning hours, then strangely dropped off after the clouds moved in during late in the mid afternoon into the low 50s which really dried up the rain trying to fall. Dew points fluctuated some the rest of the day and wound up in the mid 60s by midnight observation time.
The maximum temperature was 91.6 degrees at 1426.
The minimum temperature was 67.9 degrees at 0712.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 67 degrees @ 1025 down to a low of 53 degrees @ 1540.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 83% @ 0654 down to a low of 31% @ 1516.
The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.01 inches @ 0000 down to a low of 29.81 inches @ 1838.
There was no precipitation on Monday so the monthly total is still 0.42 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.08 inches. We are really getting quite dry around here with once again little to no chance for rain the rest of this week.
My current online data is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
Unfortunately a recent development was found that is a discrepancy between my wxlink data and my VP2 display data. I noted this last Friday when the low temperature came in as 50.2 degrees as I saw it in real time on my VP2 display, but on other sources tied in with wxlink I had a low of 52.8. Other variables also were a bit different. I don’t understand this discrepancy which I continue to notice in my records. I need to study close by VP2 stations in wunderground to see if I may be getting signal interference from another station all of a sudden. In a probably related development, I also continue to notice wind data for my station in wxlink (and therefore also in my weather underground data) a few days ago and has continued (And I have no working anemometer connected to my station).
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day. I haven’t been able to do this very much this month unfortunately since precious little rain (only on two days all month) has fallen from the sky.
I was busy Tuesday so I didn’t have time to post Monday’s report till early Wednesday morning. Rather than make a condensed 2 day post, I am going to make 2 condensed individual day posts, since Monday and Tuesday were really different days weatherwise. On Monday I never really did go to bed, and listened to my radio weather show on the internet, took a shower, prepared for apartment cleaning in the mid-afternoon, then crashed a bit before the Bears MNF win over the Redskins. I had some salad for dinner, along with a turkey pastrami and palmetto cheese sandwich on rye earlier.
Tuesday was a beautiful day but will be detailed in my Tuesday post coming along in a little while.
Wednesday should be mostly sunny with high temps of 80-85 and lows in the 55-60 range.
Thursday should be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the low-mid 50s, with a 20% chance of a rain shower.
Friday should be mostly sunny with scattered clouds and highs around 80 with lows in the low-mid 60s.
The weekend looks partly to mostly sunny and very warm with highs in the mid-upper 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
Right now the forecast is for rain showers and cooler on Monday as we close out September, highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid 60s. I will believe that rain will fall when I see it, the way it has been.
On Midnight Monday the temperature was 72.9 degrees, relative humidity 74%, pressure rising at 29.86 inches with the dew point temperature at 64 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Currently at 0528 Wednesday morning the temperature is 58.7 degrees under mostly clear skies, relative humidity at 80%, barometric pressure rising at 29.95 inches, and the dew point temperature at 53 degrees.
Good early morning from the walrus on this clear, pleasant Wednesday.
