Partly cloudy, still hot and humid but remaining dry as storms threaten once again update for Thursday, September 12, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland
Thursday continued hot and humid under partly cloudy skies with late afternoon/early evening storm threats once again but missing my immediate area once again. On radar a storm tracked southeast from Frederick right along I-270 but somehow stayed just east of my location. There still was plenty of fuel for the storms earlier today but gradually in the evening cooling NE breezes from the backdoor frontal passage (from the north) calmed the atmosphere with cooler, somewhat drier air as the evening progressed. High temps rose up into the low 90s by mid-afternoon, after early morning muggy, warm mins in the low 70s. Dew point temperatures started in the mid 60s at the very start of the day but rose into the mid 70s by midday, then falling slowly to around 70 at midnight observation time.
The maximum temperature was 91.5 degrees at 1557.
The minimum temperature was 72.5 degrees at 0644.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 67 degrees @ 0000 up to a high of 74 degrees @ 1111.
The relative humidity values ranged from a low of 49% @ 1404 up to a high of 87% @ 2356.
The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.04 inches @ 1648 up to a high of 30.18 inches @ 2356.
There was no precipitation on Thursday so the monthly total remains at 0.39 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.05 inches.
My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall so please use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days (when I have had rain that is) so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.
My weather station stopped recording wind direction and speed data at noontime on Thursday, as abruptly as it started 48 hours earlier at noon on Tuesday. I will continue to check on that data set in the near future closely to see if it comes back for some reason. You should not be seeing it any more on my wxlink and weather underground station data.
I managed to get up in time for a shower and get some wash done and have a late breakfast prior to our 1900 trivia session next door. We had a good turnout but not as many as last week’s record amount of participants. I watched part of the lightning-delayed Thursday night football game after trivia, won by Tampa Bay 20-14 over the Carolina Panthers. I made a mexican pizza from my Schwan’s order. Never had this type before, it was reasonably good actually. I also had some orzo salad and V8 for appetizers/cocktails of sorts. I worked on my August spreadsheet data from time to time, making good progress. I also relaxed on the recliner at other times and monitored the weather changes as the cooler air started moving in. I changed my sheets since I took a shower, they certainly needed it. .
Friday will be much more pleasantly cooler with highs only in the low 70s and lows only in the low 60s under mostly cloudy skies with a slight chance for sprinkles/drizzle or light showers at times.
Saturday and Sunday look to warm up with more clouds than sun, highs in the low-mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
Monday should be partly to mostly sunny and a bit warmer, with highs around 90 and lows in the mid 60s.
Tuesday and Wednesday should be partly to mostly sunny and cooler with highs around 80 and lows in the mid-upper 50s.
On Midnight Thursday the temperature was 73.7 degrees, relative humidity 87%, pressure rising at 30.17 inches with the dew point temperature at 70 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Currently at 0633 Friday morning the temperature is 66.0 degrees under cloudy skies, relative humidity at 92%, barometric pressure rising at 30.30 inches, and the dew point temperature at 64 degrees.
Good early morning from the walrus on this cloudy Friday. Today’s featured image is the usual Thursday 1900 image just prior to trivia outside building A looking west showing clearing skies from earlier nearby storms. It is now almost sunset at 1900 this time of year. (1922 actual sunset time)
