Partly sunny, a bit warmer but still pleasant and dry update for Saturday, September 7, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Now that we finally cleared Dorian out of our area, we had a pretty nice Saturday, a bit warmer with a lot more sun with just fair-weather cumulus dotting the sky at times (see today’s featured image) and a bit lower dew points from yesterday. High temps rose to the upper 70s by mid-afternoon after a pleasant upper 50s early AM min started us off nicely.  Dew point temps ranged from the mid 50s in the early AM up to the low 60s by mid-morning, then around 60 by evening. .

The maximum temperature was 78.9 degrees at 1537.

The minimum temperature was 58.2 degrees at 0705.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 56 degrees @ 0610 up to a high of 63 degrees @ 0935.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 93% @ 0755 down to a low of 51% @ 1546.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.82 inches @ 0224 up to a high of 29.99 inches @ 2310.

There was no precipitation on Saturday so the monthly total remains at 0.39 inches. The year-to-date total is 38.05 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall so please use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called Gardens of Traville. Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values on most days of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my official precipitation total each day.

I slept in a while since the Badgers game didn’t start till 1530. I had a nice bowl of shredded wheat with milk and a banana, along with a pot of coffee.  Wisconsin had no trouble with Central Michigan, winning 61-0 in a thoroughly dominant and enjoyable (for a rabid fan like yours truly) performance.  Other interesting/wild college games prevailed well into Sunday morning as a west coast game in Seattle was delayed by lightning and didn’t finish till about 0430 EDT. LSU won a wild one earlier 45-38 over Texas, and Colorado made quite a comeback to win against Nebraska 34-31. I tied for the win with one other in my college football pick em pool which was fun to follow throughout the day on an excel spreadsheet. I cooked bratwurst for dinner, first par-boiling them in onions and then finishing them up on the foreman grill, adding pickle slices and horseradish mustard to embellish the already tasty sausages. I also had a bit of orzo salad and was going to make some potatoes but didn’t get to finish them before I got full and disinterested in having any more food.  I also had my spicy low sodium V8 juice as a start to the dinner while the brats were finishing up on the grill. I also caught a bit of the Yankees 5-1 win over the Red Sox in between all the gridiron action. As a final post mortem on Dorian, my friend Natalie who lives up in beautiful Chance Harbour New Brunswick (Canadian Maritimes) gave me facebook updates on the storm as it ripped through that area as a post-tropical storm still with Hurricane Category 2 strength (around 100 MPH winds) on its way out to the North Atlantic graveyard for hurricanes.

Sunday and Tuesday should be partly sunny and a bit warmer, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the mid 60s.

Monday looks to be cloudy and cooler with a chance of rain showers, highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 60s.

Wednesday and Thursday should be partly cloudy and warming back up again with highs around 90 and lows in the upper 60s.

Friday looks to cool back down into the upper 70s for highs and mid 60s for lows with partly cloudy skies and chances of showers and thundershowers at time.

On Midnight Saturday the temperature was 68.3 degrees, relative humidity 75%, pressure steady at 29.98 inches with the dew point temperature at 60 degrees under clear skies.

Currently at 0611 Sunday morning the temperature is 61.8 degrees under clear skies, relative humidity at 86%, barometric pressure rising at 30.03 inches, and the dew point temperature at 58 degrees.

Good early morning from the walrus on this clear Sunday. The start of the NFL regular season starts in full on Sunday, with plenty of exciting action hoped for in some good opening matchups throughout the day.
