Partly cloudy, still with pleasant temperatures and dew points update for Sunday, August 11, 2019 for West Rockville Maryland

Sunday was another partly sunny, pleasant day with moderate temps and dew points. High temps once again barely got over the 80 mark in the mid afternoon after an early AM min in the mid 60s, cooling off by late evening into the upper mid 60s. Dew points were in the low 60s at the very start of the day, then dropped into the mid 50s by late morning, and rose slightly by midnight observation time to around the 60 mark. .

The maximum temperature was 81.3 degrees at 1526.

The minimum temperature was 64.0 degrees at 0658.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 62 degrees @ 0000 down to a low of 55 degrees @ 1048.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 80% @ 0019 down to a low of 43% @ 1548.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.98 inches @ 0002 up to a high of 30.10 inches @ 1127.

There was no precipitation on Sunday so there remains a total of 3.84 inches of rain so far in August. The year-to-date total is 33.53 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. (for example, it recorded 2.15 inches of rain a week ago (last Sunday), with a 16.94 inch/hour rain rate at 0021 very early on that day that was way over what actually occurred.)

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Sunday was a sleep-in day, then with a very late cereal and coffee breakfast in the early evening, then watching the Summerslam wrestling show on the internet, and some baseball. I had an equally late dinner of the rest of the potato salad and 2 small gyro sliders then even a later snack of a few triscuit crackers and pretzels, along with plenty of water well after the hot coffee earlier. I spoke briefly with Robin and Gideon to get the wrestling show password, then a later talk with Marty, plus some chatting and work on the computer and some word games on my IPhone.

Monday should be much warmer with partly to mostly sunny, dry skies and high temps in the low 90s by day, lows in the low 70s overnight.

Tuesday should be partly to mostly cloudy with good chances of afternoon and evening showers and storms, some possibly severe, with highs once again in the low 90s with lows in the low 70s.

On Wednesday through Friday it should be partly to mostly sunny, dry and not as hot, with high temps falling into and holding in the mid  80s, lows in the upper-mid 60s.

Midnight Sunday recorded a temperature of 67.4 degrees, relative humidity 78%, pressure rising at 30.04 inches and the dew point temperature at a still reasonable 60.3 degrees under mostly clear skies.

Currently at 0816 the temperature is 66.4 degrees under clear skies, relative humidity at 93%, barometric pressure steady at 30.04 inches, and the dew point temperature at 64 degrees.

Good morning from the walrus on this clear start to Monday.
