Sunny, not as hot, but still very humid update for Thursday, July 18 2019 for West Rockville Maryland

Thursday barely continued our July heat wave, with sunny, very humid but not as hot conditions with high temps just around 90 degrees and lows in the sultry mid 70s. Dew points remained high all day, after the early AM min in the low 70s, rising into the upper 70s by mid-day and staying that way the rest of the afternoon, only falling into the mid 70s by late evening. The remaining moisture from TS Barry went elsewhere if anywhere, to the north and south, and we remained quite cloud free most of the day.

The maximum temperature was 89.5 degrees at 1715.

The minimum temperature was 74.6 degrees at 0002.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 73 degrees @ 0000 up to a high of 78 degrees @ 1206.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 96% @ 0648 down to a low of 65% @ 1733.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 29.91 inches @ 0938 down to a low of 29.86 inches @ 1808.

There was no precipitation on Thursday. There has been a total of 5.97 inches of rain so far in July. The year-to-date total is now 28.63 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 and can be found on the web at https://www.cocorahs.org

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

I picked some more at my newly obtained Shoppers Grocery order which came early Wednesday evening, shredded wheat, skim milk and a banana for brunch before trivia than after trivia I had a delicious vegetable alfredo lasagna for dinner. I showered before my weekly trivia game over in Building A and tried to catch up on a few things including washing my bedding and some towels, but I am still well behind on many other items including sleep. I chatted with Robin and Gideon on face time, and on the regular phone on her way to work with Tracy.

We have a succession of hot, humid days ahead through the weekend. High temperatures (Friday through Sunday) should be in the upper 90s to around 100 with heat indicies well above 100, with low temps in the muggy, uncomfortable mid-upper 70s. An excessive heat warning has been posted for Friday, and will most likely be extended into most of the weekend. Scattered thunderstorms may occur in the late afternoon or evening on Sunday and more likely on Monday ahead of some cooler, much-wanted relief on Tuesday through most of the upcoming week.

Midnight Thursday recorded a temperature of 79.1 degrees, relative humidity 86%, pressure rising at 29.90 inches and the dew point temperature at 74.5 degrees under clear skies.

Currently at 0721 the temperature is 76.3 degrees under sunny skies,  relative humidity at 88%, barometric pressure steady at 29.95 inches, and the dew point temperature at 73 degrees.

Good morning from the walrus on this mostly sunny Friday. I have an apartment-wide barbecue party at 1600 today, followed by our weekly rummikub game.
