A nice start to July – not as warm or humid, bright, sunny skies update for Monday, July 1, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

July started out with a relatively pleasant start after a hot, humid ending to the month of June. Bright sunny skies, temps only reaching the mid 80s ending the 4 day streak of 90 or greater highs during the last 4 days of June was a great relief, along with lowering dew points into the mid 50s. Temperatures rose from the mid 60s in the early AM to the mid 80s by mid-afternoon. Temperatures eventually dropped later in the evening to around the 70 degree mark. The dew point temperature started out in the mid 50s in the early AM and rose to the lower mid 60s by mid-afternoon, then dropped a bit back into the low 60s by late evening.

The maximum temperature was 85.4 degrees at 1616.

The minimum temperature was 65.7 degrees at 0617.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 56 degrees @ 0451 up to a high of 63 degrees @ 1457.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 75% @ 0620 down to a low of 42% @ 1716.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.92 inches @ 0000 up to a high of 30.01 inches @ 0924.

There was no precipitation on Monday. There was a total of 2.37 inches of rain recorded in June.
The year-to-date total is 22.66 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:                                                                    https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

On Monday I had a bit of a twist on one of my favorite dinners. Baked panko boneless/skinless chicken thighs moistened with a bit of olive oil along with four cheese rice a roni cooked with added frozen green beans. Turns out I added more green beans than I should have, but it eventually got all mixed up when I added the cheese right at the end of the cooking. I returned to one of my favorite breakfasts on a toasted everything bagel. Eggs, cream cheese and turkey breakfast sausage all cooked in the microwave. Yum Yum!!!

On Tuesday we will resume the heat wave, with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the lower 70s and partly cloudy
skies.

This hot, humid partly cloudy pattern should continue through the 4th of July week, with possible afternoon/evening storms starting on Wednesday. Temps should peak out in the 87-93 degree range, with lows in the upper 60s – low 70s.

Midnight Monday recorded a temperature of 70.3°, relative humidity 74%, pressure rising at 29.96 inches and a dew point temperature of 61.6° under clear skies.

Currently at 0922 the temperature is 78.9° under sunny skies, relative humidity at 68%, barometric pressure steady at 29.94 inches, and the dew point temperature rising at 67°.

Good morning from the walrus on this sunny, warming up Monday.
