After a brief very early morning light shower, mostly sunny, not quite as hot or humid update for Sunday, June 30, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

After a brief very early morning shower (0.04″) most of Sunday was mostly sunny, a bit less hot or humid but still a rounded high temp of 90 degrees (89.9 degrees actually) that gave me a modest streak of 4 straight days of 90 degrees or more to wind up the month of June with a total of 5 days of 90 or more. Temperatures rose from the upper 60s in the early AM to around 90 degrees by mid-afternoon.  Eventually temps dropped later in the evening into the mid 70s. The dew point temperature started out around 70 degrees through mid-morning, then dropped nicely into the upper 50s by late evening.

The maximum temperature was 89.9 degrees at 1558.

The minimum temperature was 68.8 degrees at 0550.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 71 degrees @ 0920 down to a low of 58 degrees @ 2345.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 92% @ 0300 down to a low of 39% @ 1520.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 29.98 inches @ 0000 down to a low of 29.81 inches @ 1645.

There was 0.04 inches of precipitation on Sunday. There was a total of 2.37 inches of rain recorded in June.
The year-to-date total is now 22.66 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on
a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

On Sunday I finally had my customary breakfast of cereal, bananas and fat-free milk . I snacked on some kimchee just before dinner. For dinner, I had some baked fish fillets and sauteed zucchini and onions over a baked potato. I enjoyed a much earlier baseball game from London England starting at 1000 EDT between the Yankees and Red Sox. The Yankees won another slugfest, this time the score was 12-8.

Monday will give us one more day of minor heat relief, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s with relatively low dew points and bright blue, sunny skies.

Unfortunately with the start of July it appears that on Tuesday we will resume the heat wave, with highs in the mid 90s and lows in the lower 70s and partly cloudy
skies.

This hot, humid partly cloudy pattern should continue through the 4th of July week, with possible afternoon/evening storms starting on Wednesday. Temps should peak out in the 90-95 degree range, with lows in the low 70s.

Midnight Sunday recorded a temperature of 76.1°, relative humidity 54%, pressure rising at 29.92 inches and a dew point temperature of 58.3° under clear skies.

Currently at 1305 the temperature is 80.1° under sunny skies, relative humidity at 47%, barometric pressure steady at 30.00 inches, and the dew point temperature holding down somewhat at 58°.

Good early afternoon from the walrus on this sunny, relatively pleasant Monday.
