Partly sunny, very warm and humid update for Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland
Tuesday was a partly cloudy, very warm and humid day (though more humid early and less humid later on in the day). Clouds and light rain (0.19 inches) with distant thunder from about 0200-0300 during the overnight didn’t last long and kept things muggy during most of the overnight. Temperatures rose from the low 70s in the early AM to the upper 80s by mid afternoon then cooling off to the mid 70s and drying out somewhat. A gradual dew point temperature drop all day helped to make things a bit more pleasant by evening. They started out in the lower 70s in the very early AM with the clouds and light rain, then dropped into the lower mid 60s by late afternoon and held there the rest of the day.
The maximum temperature was 87.9 degrees at 1543.
The minimum temperature was 71.2 degrees at 0627.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 71 degrees @ 0000 down to a low of 63 degrees @ 1650.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 96% @ 0655 down to a low of 45% @ 1715.
The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.77 inches @ 0135 up to a high of 29.99 inches @ 2335.
There was 0.19 inches of precipitation on Tuesday. There has been 2.31 inches of rain recorded so far in June. The year-to-date total is now 22.60 inches.
My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Tuesday was another sleepy day, as I slept through dinner, my obs and reporting on the NJWO weather hotline this morning.
Wednesday through Sunday should be sunny to partly cloudy, hot and humid, with highs of 90°-95° and lows in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Unfortunately it appears that June will finish out with the start of a heat wave that looks to extend well into July, past Independence Day. Gosh do I hate this heat and humidity!
Midnight Tuesday recorded a temperature of 74.0°, relative humidity 70%, pressure rising at 29.99 inches and a dew point temperature of 63.6° under clear skies.
Currently at 2242 the temperature is 78.1° under clear skies, relative humidity at 70%, barometric pressure rising at 30.09 inches, and a dew point temperature of 68°.
Good evening from the walrus on this Wednesday.
