Partly cloudy, not as warm, humid update for Tuesday, June 18, 2019 for West Rockville Maryland
Tuesday was partly to mostly cloudy, especially in the evening when light showers occurred late (around 2200-2300) but no severe weather here. Training thunderstorms stayed to my south over parts of Virginia and southern Maryland – dark clouds to my south stayed there but were certainly quite close. There was another flash flood watch posted for the afternoon and evening. Temperatures rose from the low 70s in the early AM to the mid 80s in the mid-late afternoon hours, then fell back into the low 70s during the cloudy, somewhat rainy evening. Dew point temperatures started out in the upper 60s in the AM hours, rising into the muggy low-mid 70s by mid morning and remaining there the rest of the day.
The maximum temperature was 83.9 degrees at 1557.
The minimum temperature was 70.3 degrees at 0604.
The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 69 degrees @ 0456 up to a high of 74 degrees @ 1001.
The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 96% @ 0723 down to a low of 62% @ 1655.
The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 29.99 inches @ 0019 down to a low of 29.87 inches @ 1804.
There was 0.13 inches of precipitation on Tuesday. There has been 2.02 inches of rain recorded so far in June. The year-to-date total is now 22.31 inches.
My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.
I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Tuesday was a day of cooking up some brown rice and chicken in a mushroom and onion gravy with green beans. I made a big pot so I have at least one more meal out of the leftovers.
Wednesday and Thursday should be partly to mostly cloudy, warm, humid with good chances (60-80%) of showers and storms (particularly Thursday) with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 60s to lover 70s.
Friday and Saturday look mostly to partly sunny, not as warm, dry with lower dew points, with highs around 80° and lows in the upper 50s.
Sunday looks partly cloudy and warmer, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s.
Midnight Tuesday recorded a muggy temperature of 72.0°, relative humidity 93%, pressure falling at 29.90 inches and a dew point temperature of 70° under cloudy skies.
Currently at 0726 the temperature is 71.5° under mostly cloudy (altostratus overcast) skies, relative humidity at 94%, barometric pressure steady at 29.84 inches, and a dew point of 70°.
Good morning from the walrus early on this Wednesday. Images are not loading for me, I will try and send this post without an image for now.
