Partly sunny, warmer, still dry and reasonably, pleasant update for Saturday, June 15, 2019 from West Rockville Maryland

Saturday was partly sunny, dry, warmer with still relatively low dew points for a reasonably pleasant day. Temperatures rose from the mid 50s in the early AM to the low 80s in the mid-late afternoon hours, then only fell back into the low 70s by midnight observation during a warmer evening period. Dew point temperatures started out in the lower 50s in the AM hours, rising into the low 60s by mid afternoon  before dropping back into the upper 50s by late evening.

The maximum temperature was 81.0 degrees at 1603.

The minimum temperature was 55.2 degrees at 0611.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 52 degrees @ 0450 up to a high of 62 degrees @ 1410.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 89% @ 0645 down to a low of 45% @ 1610.

The barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.17 inches @ 0815 down to a low of 29.98 inches @ 2350.

There was no precipitation on Saturday. There has been 1.66 inches of rain recorded so far in June. The year-to-date total is 21.95 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

I got out on Saturday afternoon for the 2019 DC-AMS Science Fair Student recognition ceremony at the Rockville Library. We had some light refreshments and presentations by 3 top notch high school students from the DC area. Please see today’s featured image, the images below and more details on the presentations.

Good morning from the walrus early on this Sunday. Today’s featured image is from the DC-AMS student recognition meeting held at the Rockville Library on Saturday afternoon. Also shown below are two more student presentations. The one without a clear title is on the effects of topography on air pollution. Enjoy!
