As I write this early Monday, the Final Four spots have been determined in the NCAA basketball tournament. The two remaining members of the Final Four were finalized on Sunday afternoon and evening with two exciting games. Auburn defeated SEC rival Kentucky 77-71 in overtime in Kansas City in the opener, then Michigan State defeated Duke 68-67 in the Washington DC Regional final in the second game. Today’s winners join the winners from Saturday in the Final Four semifinal games starting next Saturday evening in Minneapolis.

Sunday was cloudy, still mild (slowly dropping through the lower 60s) in the overnight with mid-morning light showers (0.02″) then clearing, windy and colder during the PM hours, with temps dropping through the 50s, 40s and 30s down to almost the freezing mark by midnight.

The maximum temperature was 66.1° at 0000.

The minimum temperature was 33.0° at 2359.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 54° @ 0807 down to a low of 15° @ 2241.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 87% @ 0843 down to a low of 41% @ 1620.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 29.64″ @ 0415 up to a high of 30.17″ @ 2347.

Sunday had 0.02″ of precipitation. My March monthly total finished at 4.67″ with my year-to-date total at 11.69″.

No snow/sleet fell on Sunday. My March total snowfall wound up with 2.5″ with the seasonal total at 26.8″. Unless we get some unexpected snow in April, I will suspend further snow reporting till late next fall after today.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

Monday should be cooler but sunny, with highs around 50° and lows around 30° to usher in the month of April.

Expect it to be partly cloudy on Tuesday and milder, with high temps in the low 50s and lows in the mid 30s.

Wednesday should be mostly sunny and milder, with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 40s.

Thursday should be mostly cloudy and mild, with highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 40s.

Friday looks to be cloudy and cooler, with temps in the 50s and showers possible.

Midnight Sunday night found the temperature to be a chilly 33.0°, relative humidity 48%, pressure rising at 30.17″ and the dew point a low 15.5° under clear, windy skies.

Currently at 0603 the temperature is 31.0° under clear skies, relative humidity at 60%, barometric pressure rising at 30.27″, and the dew point at 18°.

Good morning from the snowless walrus on this clear, chilly, dry Monday, April Fools Day. With peak bloom of the famous downtown Washington DC Cherry Trees in the Tidal Basin occurring right now, trees and shrubs around here are looking more springlike also. Today’s featured image file is a rerun on a very recent post of a blooming cherry tree on the grounds of my apartment complex, taken just prior to sunset Thursday evening.
