Mostly sunny, seasonably cool, dry update for Tuesday , March 26 and Wednesday, March 27 2019 at West Rockville, Maryland

Back to two days in one post briefly – I crashed last night and didn’t get much at all done. And as I write this early Thursday, preparations are being finalized at four regional centers (including very close by in Washington DC) for the regional semifinals and finals of the NCAA Basketball tournament to pare down the Sweet Sixteen to eight teams by late Friday then down to the Final Four by the end of the weekend.

Tuesday was mostly sunny and chilly, with high temps in the mid 40s and early AM min temps in the mid 30s.

The maximum temperature was 46.7° at 1527.

The minimum temperature was 34.2° at 0740.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a high of 38° @ 0055 down to a low of 12° @ 0910.

The relative humidity values ranged from a high of 90% @ 0105 down to a low of 28% @ 1845.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.11″ @ 0005 up to a high of 30.41″ @ 2330.

Wednesday was mostly sunny and not quite as chilly in the afternoon, with high temps around 50° after chilly early AM min temps around the freezing mark.

The maximum temperature was 50.6° at 1653.

The minimum temperature was 32.6° at 0710.

The dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 10° @ 0400 up to a high of 28° @ 2358.

The relative humidity values ranged from a low of 24% @ 1339 up to a high of 60% @ 2358.

The barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.40″ @ 0002 up to a high of 30.55″ @ 1107.

Tuesday and Wednesday had no precipitation. My March monthly total is still 4.65″ with my year-to-date total at 11.67″.

No snow/sleet fell on Tuesday or Wednesday. My March total snowfall is 2.5″ with the seasonal total at 26.8″.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link shown below for that dataset) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time now as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values at times so should not be used except for general precipitation timing. For example during our big snowstorm back in mid-January the snow didn’t melt at all during the storm, and only started to record precipitation amounts a few days later when the sun and above freezing temperatures started to melt the snow.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day. I also use a snow stake outside my balcony window to get an idea on how much snow has fallen (while it is snowing) and how much snow is on the ground.

Thursday should be sunny with highs around 60° and lows overnight into Friday in the mid 40s. Pretty good weather for the Washington Nationals Baseball Team home opener in downtown DC at Nats Park.

Cloudy skies on Friday and Saturday with high temps of 70° – 75° and lows in the low 50s.

Sunday should turn cooler along with more clouds and a good chance of AM showers, highs in the mid 50s and lows around freezing.

Midnight Wednesday night found the temperature to be 40.8°, relative humidity 60%, pressure steady at 30.47″ and the dew point at 28.1° under clear skies.

Currently at 0653 the temperature is 34.8° under clear skies, relative humidity at 83%, barometric pressure steady at 30.46″, and the dew point at 30°.

Good early morning from the snowless walrus on this clear Thursday,
