A mostly cloudy, a bit milder day update from West Rockville, Maryland for Thursday, December 6 2018
Thursday started out cloudy and cold in the AM, but gradually warmed up a bit in the PM, with some sun peaking through the cloud deck at time as temperatures climbed into the low 40s in the mid-afternoon. Temperatures then dropped off slowly only into the mid 30s by midnight observation time. Regarding my Wednesday report, I should have kept the snow flurries report to being scattered around the region. I relied on only a few reports to state that I had flurries, but I never personally saw any, and after checking with several of my neighbors here in my apartment complex, none of them saw any flurries either. Flurries are fickle sometimes, falling in one spot and then not falling in another not far away. My apologies for this unfortunate error.
The maximum temperature was 40.8° at 1451.
The minimum temperature was 30.2° at 0044.
Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 23° @ 0501 up to a high of 26° @ 0326.
Relative humidity values ranged from a high of 79% @ 0326 down to a low of 53% @ 1409.
Barometric pressure ranged from a high of 30.35″ @ 0402 down to a low of 30.24″ @ 2132.
No rain or snow fell on Wednesday. December 2018 still has a total of 0.44″ of precipitation (liquid water equivalent) . The year-to-date precipitation is still 59.25″.
For now, I am working on a better link to get my VP2 data on Weatherlink. I migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 and my data isn’t so easy to find securely . For now, weather underground must be used. I posting my data there every 5-10 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:
https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDROCKV200
I contribute daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/
Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. As it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket is producing erratic values than my 4 inch gauge. I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Friday should be partly cloudy and a bit colder, with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the low 20s.
Saturday should be partly cloudy and cold, with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the mid 20s.
Sunday looks to turn mostly cloudy and colder, highs around the freezing mark and lows in the mid 20s. It looks like the big storm to our south may stay that way and we miss out on snow. If we get any, it will be light and should be Sunday night.
Monday should be sunny and not as cold with highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 20s. Tuesday should be partly cloudy and a bit colder with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the mid 20s.
Thursday’s midnight observations included a temperature of 36.2°, relative humidity 65%, barometric pressure 30.26″ and rising, and a dew point of 25.6° under partly cloudy skies.
Currently at 0430 the temperature is 36.2°, dew point temperature 28°, relative humidity 71%, and barometric pressure at 30.32″ and rising under partly cloudy skies. During the overnight, temperatures have remained in the mid 30s, under partly cloudy skies.
Good morning from the Walrus on this Friday.
