Snow in West Rockville MD on November 15, 2018

Snow in West Rockville MD on November 15, 2018

Well I had my first snow of the season on Thursday, November 15, 2018. It snowed mostly between about 0730-1215 EST, with temps around 30° at the start, warming up to the 32° freezing mark by mid-day, then raising above the freezing mark in the afternoon, changing the snow over to freezing rain/sleet briefly before changing to just plain rain. Pictures of the snow below and as the featured image were substandard, taken after the changeover in the early afternoon. The contrail picture was taken on Wednesday, ahead of the storm, but you can see the vapor trail spreading, indicating the moisture streaming in to the area at high levels ahead of our storm.

Rough estimates of snowfall was 2.1″, 1″ on the ground at midnight, and 1.37″ water equivalent for the entire day (11/15/2018)

Snow accumulated much more to my north and west, with 9″ in Frostburg MD and 8..3″ in Harrisburg PA among data I saw from the many lists on Thursday evening.

I hope to get back to my regular reporting schedule soon, I have been swamped with personal health problems and just so many things to do, plus necessary life style changes that should be taken care of soon. I apologize for worrying any of you about my lack of reporting. I am not out of the woods yet, but working on it.

Currently 34.3° and cloudy but dry early on this Friday morning at 0600.
