A beautiful wrap-up last day of the month to a very wet September from West Rockville MD for Sunday, September 30, 2018

Well this last weekend of September finished out a very wet month with a tranquil, pleasant, dry early fall Sunday, which was filled with sunshine and pleasant temperatures and low dew points. High temperatures reached the low 70s by mid-afternoon, after an early morning in the mid 50s.

Sunday’s max temperature was 72.6° at 1621
Friday’s min temperature was 56.2° at 0447

Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 52° @ 0913 up to a high of 63° @ 1744

Relative humidity values ranged from a high of 93% @ 0501 down to a low of 56% @ 1215

Barometric pressure ranged from a low of 30.28″ @ 0000 up to a high of 30.38″ @ 0859

You can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. I have migrated over to Weatherlink 2.0 so I have a new link for my data.
You can now access the data through:

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.”
Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is:

I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/

Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the
tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I actually use the data I post to cocorahs from my 4″ cocorahs gauge I read manually as
my “official” precipitation total each day.

September monthly precipitation is 10.36″ with my year-to-date precipitation at 48.44″. (Note: I have discovered a 0.02″ discrepancy between my monthly and yearly amounts published here vs. what shows up in my cocorahs record (10.34″) – still under investigation as to the correct final amount – stay tuned).  In any event, September 2018 is now the rainiest month here at my current station since I started in January 2017. My previous rainiest month was 8.65″ back in July 2017.

Overnight Saturday into Sunday was clear and delightfully cool.  Sunday was a sunny and pleasant day, with
highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s, Dew points held in the mid 50s to low 60s all day.  Early next week (Mon-Wed) October will start out warm and dry with highs in the low 80s, lows in the mid 60s with partly cloudy skies. The 20 POP for an isolated shower on Tuesday has changed again to a 40 POP for PM thunderstorms.  Thursday looks mostly sunny and warmer, with highs up in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 60s. Friday should be partly cloudy and cooler, with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 60s. It looks like a dry start to the month of October, and longer range predictions through the middle of the month (at least) are for this warmer, drier weather to persist. Our first freeze/frost looks to be several weeks away, as it has been trending over the past few years.

Currently at 0513 the temperature is 62.2°, dew point temperature 61°, relative humidity 95%,
barometric pressure at 30.29″ and steady.

Currently I have clear skies and pleasant overnight temperatures in the low 60s.

Good morning from the Walrus early on this Monday.

Kevin
