Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444 I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDrockv200#history/ I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/ Please remember that Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I actually use the data I post to cocorahs from my 4″ cocorahs gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Wednesday was mostly cloudy, damp (foggy in the early AM once again) but only warmed up a little in the afternoon. Temps only reached the mid-upper 70s by day, and stayed about or above the 70° mark in the early morning and evening hours also. Overnight into Thursday we have remained cloudy, mild and muggy, with temperatures lowering a bit into the mid 60s and fog developing once again over the past hour or so. Thursday should be mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and lows around 70° and an 80 POP for thunderstorms. Friday should be partly cloudy and very warm to start the month of June with highs in the upper 80s and lows around 70°, with a 60 POP for PM thunderstorms. Saturday should be a bit cooler and cloudy, with a 100 POP for thunderstorms, highs around 80° and lows in the mid 60s. Sunday should be cooler and cloudy, with a 90 POP for showers, highs only in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 50s. Monday should be mostly cloudy and dry, with highs in the low 70s and lows in the upper 50s and only a 20 POP for rain.
The Channel 4 radar at 0530 is showing showers to my immediate SW over suburban VA and scattered over parts of Maryland, heading NE. Much more behind that to the further SW to come.
As of 0530, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WX Bug station are as follows:
Cloudy, foggy (light at the moment) and muggy
Station Relative Location Temp RH DP BP Wind High/Low temp on Tuesday
VP2 Ground 66.6° 97% 66° 29.98″F NA 77.7°/70.1°
The total precipitation in the cocorahs gauge was 0.00″ through midnight Wednesday. The VP2 tipping bucket reported 0.00″ of rain.
Wednesday’s precipitation was 0.00″
May precipitation is now 6.04″
Year-to-date precipitation total is now 17.78″
WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 65° 100% 65° 30.02″F SE 8 G ESE 12
140° from station 77°/69°
The Lakewood rain gauge recorded 0.00″ of precipitation on Wednesday. May is still showing the 10.09″ for the month with the 2018 year-to-date (YTD) amount of 24.90″ as reported the past 2 days. No adjustments made as hoped for. I definitely continue to believe that at times the great disparity between the Lakewood WX Bug station precipitation amount total for the month and year and my cocorahs gauge based data is that the Lakewood precip values are estimated/adjusted from radar.
At 2400 obs Wednesday night the temperature from the VP2 was 70.6° RH 93% BP 30.02″S DP 68.5°
Cloudy, cooler, and muggy at 2400 Wednesday
Good morning from the mostly cloudy, foggy and muggy home of the walrus on this Thursday.
