I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDrockv200#history/ I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/ Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I use the data I post to cocorahs as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Tuesday clouded up with rain starting just after 1600. Occasional rain held true the rest of the day and the overnight into Wednesday. Temps held in the low-mid 50s overnight. During the day on Wednesday skies will remain cloudy with occasional rain (50 POP), esp in the PM hours. Highs in the low 60s, lows in the upper 40s. Thursday should be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the low 50s. Friday should be rainy once again (100 POP) with highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 40s. Saturday and Sunday look to be mostly sunny, highs on Saturday around 70° and around 60° on Sunday, lows both nights in the lower 40s. Rumor has it that next week, coinciding with the advent of May, our first May 80s heat wave will occur. I hope not but it is inevitable unfortunately.
On the Channel 4 radar at 0736 the 4 state region is partially covered with rain showers, moving generally south to north. Currently we have a lull in the rainfall but action should increase later, probably the later parts of the afternoon.
As of 0736 Wednesday, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WX Bug station are as follows:
Cloudy, wet and mild.
Station Relative Location Temp RH DP BP Wind High/Low temp Tuesday
VP2 Ground 55.3° 97% 54° 29.82″F NA 61.7/52.5
The total precipitation in the cocorahs gauge was 0.31″ through midnight Tuesday. The VP2 tipping bucket rain gauge under my balcony recorded 0.13″ through midnight Tuesday. Since midnight the bucket has recorded an additional 0.09″ of rainfall till the present time.
Tuesday’s precipitation was 0.31″
April precipitation 2.74″
April snowfall 0.0″ (will be reported till the end of April)
The seasonal snowfall total is 12.0″.
Year-to-date precipitation total is 10.91″
WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 54 100 54 29.83″S NNE 2 G NE 7
140° from station 61/51
The Lakewood rain gauge reported 0.21″ of precipitation on Tuesday. It is reporting a total of 2.16″ of precipitation for April and a 2018 year-to-date (YTD) amount of 13.04″. I still think the great disparity between the Lakewood WX Bug station precipitation amount total for the month and year and my cocorahs gauge based data is that Lakewood precip values are estimated/adjusted from radar.
At 2400 obs Tuesday night the temperature from the VP2 was 53.1 RH 95% BP 29.96″S DP 51.7
Cloudy, mild, light rain and soggy at 2400
Good morning from the cloudy, wet, mild home of the snowless walrus early on this Wednesday.
