Mostly cloudy, colder update for West Rockville Maryland on Monday, April 9 2018
Monday was mostly cloudy and cold, but not as cold on the min side as on Sunday, but with a colder max temp. There were some very light showers around (T) and even some snow in the colder spots, but with daytime temps well above freezing the snow did not stick in those scattered locations (not here at all). The Monday maximum temperature from the VP2 (42.4°) was recorded at 1138 while the Monday minimum temperature (35.1°) was recorded at 0900. Dew point temperatures rose a bit later today, ranging from a low of 16° at 0440 up to a high of 35° at 2111. Relative humidity values rose today (90% – 43%) . Barometric values once again started out at their lowest point in the early AM (30.11″ at 0004), then rose quickly in the AM to the max for the day, then fell off gradually the rest of the day – the daily high was reached in mid-morning (30.27″ at 0827).
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444
I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. The web address for my data on weather underground is: https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=KMDrockv200#history/ I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115 on https://www.cocorahs.org/ Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge. I use the data I post to cocorahs as my “official” precipitation total each day.
Overnight Monday into Tuesday skies cleared and temps dropped through much of the 30s, with light fog developing towards sunrise. Tuesday looks to warm up a bit, with highs in the low-mid 50s, lows in the low-mid 30s, with sunny skies. Partly cloudy and a bit milder on Wednesday with highs in the mid 50s and lows in the low 40s. Thursday should be partly cloudy with highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 50s. Friday the 13th should be partly cloudy and warmer, with highs around 80° and lows in the upper 50s. Saturday should be very similar, but a few degrees even warmer.
On the channel 4 weather radar website at 0730 still has scattered snow showers over parts of PA, NY and southern New England, with light rain in coastal areas around Long Island.
As of 0730, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows:
Clear, light fog lifting, cold, still basically dry.
Station Relative Location Temp RH DP BP Wind High/Low temp Monday
VP2 Ground 34.9° 94% 33° 30.25″R NA 42.4/35.1
The total precipitation in the cocorahs gauge was a Trace through midnight Monday. The VP2 tipping bucket rain gauge under my balcony recorded 0.00″ through midnight Sunday since it doesn’t record trace amounts.
Monday’s precipitation was a Trace
April precipitation 0.17″
Monday’s snowfall was 0.0″
April snowfall 0.0″
Snow on ground 0 (reported to the nearest half-inch)
The seasonal snowfall total is 12.0″.
Year-to-date precipitation total is 8.34″
WX Bug Lakewood 4500 ft, 34 100 34 30.20″R Calm G WNW 3

The Lakewood rain gauge recorded 0.00″ of precipitation on Monday. It is reporting a total of 0.39″ of precipitation for April and a 2018 year-to-date (YTD) amount of 11.27″. I think the great disparity between the Lakewood WX Bug station precipitation amount total for the month and year and my cocorahs gauge based data is that Lakewood precip values are estimated from radar.

Good early morning from the sunny, relatively cold but dry home of the snowless walrus on this Tuesday.
