Partly cloudy, cold , breezy update for West Rockville Maryland on Friday, March 16 2018
Friday featured partly cloudy skies, colder afternoon temperatures and windy conditions at times. Temperatures are at the freezing mark very early this St Patrick’s Day morning, with winds lessening overnight. The Friday maximum temperature from the VP2 (41.9°) was recorded at 1510 while the minimum temperature (30.6°) was recorded at 0430. Dew point temperatures were a bit lower than yesterday, ranging from a high of 25° at 0048 down to a low of 14° at 0943. Relative humidity values rose a bit today (74% – 36%). Barometric values rose some today, ranging from an early low of 29.87″ at 0006 up to a high of 30.08″ late at 2344.

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.
I watched a lot of the conclusion of the first round of the college basketball tournament (March Madness) including the first ever win by a 16th seed (UMBC) over a 1st seed (UVA) (by 20 points) a truly historic and monumental feat. I talked with my friend John W on the phone to finalize our meeting tomorrow afternoon for a “church supper” of ham and oysters at a local church. Hoping to also meet up with Marty there. I continue to have to deal with problems with sending out email through gmail and verizon through Thunderbird, as the outgoing SMTP mail server keeps timing out. Resetting Thunderbird and then if that fails rebooting (warm and cold) seems to be the only real working solution.
It was clear at sunrise but clouded over soon after, as a disturbance moved in from the NW, with snow showers/ flurries falling elsewhere in the region. Temperatures were slow to climb through the blustery, unstable conditions. Overnight Friday into Saturday was clear and cold, with temps falling to the lower 30s a few hours before sunrise. St Patrick’s Day Saturday looks to be warming up a bit under mostly cloudy skies, with high temps in the mid 40s, and a 20 POP for snow/rain showers with lows falling down into the mid 20s once again. Sunday should warm up, with highs in the mid 50s and lows around 30° under sunny skies. Monday should be mostly cloudy with high temps in the upper 40s for highs and around the freezing mark for lows. On Tuesday and Wednesday incredulously temps should only max out in the mid-upper 30s for highs, lows in the mid-upper 20s, and a 90 POP for rain or snow on Tuesday and a 40 POP for snow showers on Wednesday. Stay tuned for changes as I am sure this forecast will continue to evolve. Normal high temps now are in the mid 50s and normal lows are in the low-mid 30s. We have not had an above normal day since the end of February.
