A partly cloudy, cold AM, milder evening PM update for West Rockville Maryland on Wednesday, January 31 2018
Wednesday wrapped up the month of January with a seasonably cold, clear AM, then a partly cloudy, milder PM. Temperatures in the upper teens in the early AM rose to the mid 30s in the afternoon and holding under some clouds in the evening, with temps showing a small rise as we headed towards midnight. The Wednesday maximum temperature from the VP2 (37.6°) was recorded in the evening at 2157 while the minimum temperature (18.5°) was recorded at 0653. Dew point temperatures dropped today, ranging from a low of 7° at 0019 up to 21° at 2324. Relative humidity values lowered today (68% – 38%). Barometric values were high early but lowered in the PM hours, ranging from a high of 30.41″ at 0602 down to a low of 30.03″ late at 2340. Preliminary statistics for the month show a normal looking month temperature-wise (41.5°-24.6°) but dry (1.83″) with very light amounts of snow (1.4″).
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.
I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.
I ordered some miscellaneous items from Amazon, including a second hand-held anemometer for Ray and one for me at over 1/2 off from list price. Ray was really impressed with his first unit that he received on Wednesday, enough to get a second backup unit. I worked a bit on organizing my 2017 spreadsheet data, and getting some backlogged April data caught up so I can finish out the spreadsheet data for the year and produce an annual summary.
We have stayed steady and milder overnight, with temps still in the upper-mid 30s under partly cloudy skies early this Thursday morning at 0621. February will start out on Thursday milder under partly to mostly cloudy skies and a 40 POP for PM showers, with highs around 50° and lows in the mid 20s. A return to cold conditions with partly cloudy skies on Ground Hog Day Friday. High temps will be in the mid-upper 20s and lows in the mid teens with frequent windy, blustery conditions dropping wind chill temps towards the 0° mark . Saturday should be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 30s and lows around 30°. Right now Sunday looks cloudy with a 100 POP for s mixture of rain and/or snow, with highs in the upper 30s and lows around 30°. Monday should be partly cloudy with highs in the upper 30s once again, but lows a bit colder in the mid 20s.
On the Channel 4 weather website at 0621 radar is showing snow over parts of western PA and central OH (changing to rain the further west you go). Also light snow is showing up through much of central New England at this time.
