A cloudy, slightly cooler by day, somewhat rainy update for West Rockville Maryland on Sunday, January 28 2018

Sunday capped off our brief warmup during the day with high temps in the mid 50s, but with warmer mins in the mid 40s due to cloud cover and occasional light rain (0.15″). The Sunday maximum temperature from the VP2 (55.3°) was recorded early at 0015 while the minimum temperature (45.9°) was recorded late at 2347. My dew point temperatures rose significantly once again from yesterday, ranging from a high of 51° at 1147 down late to 42° at 2327. Relative humidity values raised significantly today (96% – 69%). Barometric values fell more today but flattened out without much variation, ranging from a high of 30.29″ at 1026 down to a low of 30.21″ at 1601.

Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.

I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.

I spoke very briefly with Ray in the early evening, then later on more extensively about our current drought status and about old TV actors like Archie Bunker. I also chatted with Marty for a while, plus exchanged a few emails.

We have cooled down a bit this morning in the low 40s with clouds still predominating but lifting to higher, less dense and non-rain producing rain types. Monday should be cloudy and cooler, with highs in the mid 40s and lows around 30°. Colder on Tuesday with cloudy skies and AM snow showers possible (20 POP) and blustery conditions with highs only up to the low-mid 30s and lows in the upper teens. Wednesday should feature a return to mostly sunny skies as we wrap up the month of January with highs in the upper 30s and lows around 30°. February will start out on Thursday on a milder note under partly cloudy skies and a 40 POP for PM showers, with highs around 50° and lows in the mid 20s. A return to cold and partly cloudy skies on Ground Hog Day Friday, with highs around the freezing mark and lows in the mid-upper teens with blustery conditions at times.
