A mostly cloudy, even warmer update for West Rockville Maryland on Monday, January 22 2018
Monday featured even warmer, partly to mostly cloudy skies as high temperatures rose into the low 60s. I had a trace of rain out of some morning sprinkles. The Monday maximum temperature from the VP2 (62.8°) was recorded at 1457 while the minimum temperature (46.1°) was recorded at 0607. My dew point temperatures continued their slow climb upwards, ranging from 42° at 0000 up to 48° at 1340. Relative humidity values were about the same as yesterday’s values (87% – 55%). Barometric values lowered today from a high of 30.16″ at 0000 down to a min of 29.93″ nearly 24 hours later at 2345.
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444.
I am posting daily to weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time. I contribute daily to cocorahs as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115. Please remember that Weather Underground does not report snow data, and reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge.
I talked with Ray and Marty. Ray had some great weather maps he drew himself that he shared with me in text messages, plus some pictures of his anemometer/wind vane and his rain gauges all ready to catch the impending rain.
We have warm 58° temps now under clearing skies from the west but with clouds still hanging in there (stratocumulus/cumulus) as thunderstorms reported in the area have moved off to the E and SE. I had a bit of rain overnight (0.05″) according to the VP2 gauge. AM showers and thundershowers (now down to a 30 POP) are over now as a wind shift to the NW has been noted the past hour or so with dropping temps and rising barometer. Clouds were racing earlier this morning from the SW, that was our chance at convective activity but I didn’t even hear one rumble of thunder. The rest of Tuesday should feature slowly lifting clouds with high temps in the low 60s, falling off to around the freezing mark by late evening. Wednesday and Thursday should cool off to seasonable low-mid 40s for highs, mid 20s for lows under mostly sunny skies. Friday looks to warm up a bit, with highs near 50° and lows around freezing under sunny skies. Partly cloudy and milder on Saturday with highs in the mid 50s.
On the Channel 4 weather website at 0949 radar is showing a SW-NE line of showers and thundershowers to my NE now and have apparently missed my immediate area. Other area of rain are noted in far southern MD and SE VA, along with scattered showers in parts of PA and OH, all headed E or NE.
