A partly cloudy, dry, a bit cooler update for West Rockville Maryland for Thanksgiving Eve Wednesday November 22 2017
Wednesday was partly cloudy, a tad cooler and dry. Temperatures started out mild in the upper 40s then rose a bit more through mid-morning into the mid 50s, then slid down the rest of the day till hitting the low (lower-mid 30s) for the day at midnight. Dew points rose into the mid 40s in the AM then slowly fell the rest of the day till reaching the mid 20s by midnight. At 0617 we have partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the upper 20s. The Wednesday minimum temperature from the VP2 (33.8°) was recorded at 2358 while the maximum temperature (54.3°) was recorded at 0916. Dew point temps ranged from 47° down to 26°. Relative humidity values rose a bit today (84% – 50%). Barometric values lowered a bit, ranging from a low of 29.92″ at 0444 up to 30.20″ at 2146.
Remember now you can get the VP2 data on Weatherlink. You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444. I am also now on weather underground. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, normally just about in real-time.
I spoke with Tracy on her way to work to finalize the time and arrangements for her visit Thursday mid-afternoon. I spoke with my friend Eric from the office first about some sports news, then Ray about Thanksgiving weather and then Marty about some interesting weather items, particularly an R.M. Young anemometer I found out more about. A mutual friend swapped out his Davis wind system for this R.M. Young propeller style wind system.
We are partly cloudy and dry early this morning with temps in the frosty upper 20s. Thanksgiving Day Thursday will find us mostly sunny with scattered clouds at times with highs in the mid 40s, lows around 30°. Black Friday should be sunny with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the mid 30s. Saturday should be partly cloudy and a bit milder, with highs in the mid 50s and a 40 POP for rain with lows in the mid 30s. Partly cloudy and cooler on Sunday, with highs in the mid 40s and lows around 30°.
On the Channel 4 weather website at 0617 their radar is showing showers over parts of Northern Florida and southern GA, moving NE I believe, but not due here anytime soon. All else in the Eastern U.S. appears to be clear at this time.
As of 0617, the data from the VP2 (coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony) and the Lakewood WXBug station are as follows :

Good morning from the partly cloudy, frosty, dry Walrus early on this Thanksgiving Day Thursday. Happy Turkey Day! By the way, today’s featured image is courtesy of the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Institute in Canaan Valley WV. – entitled “Wild Turkey in Snow:”. It doesn’t look like this at all around here in central Maryland right now, but I can dream…. And at least this turkey was also pardoned…
