A sunny, dry, and pleasant weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Sunday July 30 2017

Sunday was a sunny, pleasant, dry day with very little cloud cover most of the day. Now at 0515 we have clear skies and pleasant temperatures in the low 60s, with dew points in the still comfortable 60° range. The Sunday minimum temperature from the VP2 in the shelter on the ground nearby (61.2°) was recorded at 0428 while the maximum temperature (82.0°) was recorded at 1623. Dew point temps lowered from yesterday, ranging from 61° to 51°. Relative humidity values lowered more today (84% – 40%).  Barometric values also raised today, ranging from 30.08″ at 2347 to 29.93″ at 0018.
Remember now you can get the new ground-based VP2 data on Weatherlink.  You can access the data through http://www.weatherlink.com/user/walrusman444

I rested much of the day, just talking on the phone with Ray, Marty and then Robin during the afternoon from my comfy bed. I finally lumbered out of it in the late afternoon, and started putting the final touches on the pork in the crockpot, removing most of the broth liquid that helped cook it overnight, then adding spicy barbecue sauce to it after returning it to the crockpot (I temporarily removed the meat from the crockpot so I could drain the vegetable broth out of it). It cooked a few more hours on low to get heated through and through with the barbecue sauce.  I had an early evening snack of cereal, banana and hazelnut creme coffee. I then resumed email and FACEBOOK work, replying to more birthday replies and replies to my replies made yesterday. I also checked on how much rain fell in the area Friday and Saturday on cocorahs. There were many locations that had over 6 inch amounts over the 2 day period. Later in the evening I finally had the delicious barbecue in a sandwich with cheese and pickles. I also had some more orzo and potato salad. I also drank lots of water from my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have clear, dry skies and pleasant temperatures around 60° at 0515. Sunny to partly cloudy conditions should be the norm for most of the coming week, with highs in the mid 80s and lows mostly in the mid 60s. Friday looks to have similar temperatures but with an increased chance of showers and thundershowers.

On Channel 4 radar at 0516, the Eastern US is mostly rain-free, save for showers over parts of Florida from the front stalled out in that area, and a budding new possible tropical system off the west coast of Florida near Tampa.

As of 0516 EDT, the data from the VP2 is now coming from the ground radiation shield about 4 feet off the ground just under and out from the balcony and the Taylor has been replaced with the Radio Shack thermometer for the time being (on the balcony – max temps especially read too high).  The data from the Lakewood Country Club WXBug station and the USG VP2 station across the street are as follows :

Station     Relative Location      Temp    RH    DP         BP        Wind   High/Low temp today
VP2                 Ground                61.4     92     59      30.07S    NA      82.0/61.2

Radio Shack    Balcony               69.3                                                  90.1/67.5

There was no rain recorded today (cocorahs gauge on ground below – in between the US and State Flagpoles out a bit from my balcony)

July precipitation is 9.36″.

Year-to-date (YTD) precipitation total is 26.91″

VP2 Across the street (USG)      63.4     87     60     30.11S     NA      84.3/62.2

There was 0.03″ of water recorded in the USG gauge on Sunday. This is a delayed reading from yesterday’s rain, as an apparent jam up causes a flow that takes a long time to drain and record. There was no actual rain falling on Sunday.

The Lakewood rain gauge recorded no rain on Sunday.

Temp on the VP2 at 2400 was 65.5 RH 84% BP 30.08R  DP 60.5 The Radio Shack thermometer was 74.8°.

Good morning from the clear, dry, pleasant Walrus early on Sunday morning. I had the windows open all of Sunday, circulating fresh air throughout my apartment.
