A partly cloudy, warm and gradually less humid, AM wet weather update for West Rockville Maryland for Saturday June 24 2017

Saturday started out cloudy with more early morning light rain (0.32″ total also a 0.32″/hour max rain rate at 0422 at the USG VP2) but cleared off quickly by mid-morning, with partly cloudy skies and a bit cooler temps dominating most of the daylight PM hours.  High temperatures rose today in the afternoon into the mid 80s after a muggy, mild early AM min around 70°. My newly acquired Taylor Max/Min thermometer maxed out at 87.8°, a bit better than earlier in the week but still too warm for an official high temperature, due to substandard shielding of the sensor. A new shield has been ordered and should arrive by Wednesday of next week  At 0610 we have clear skies just a few minutes before sunrise, with just a few scattered middle to high level clouds giving a nice sunrise with temperatures in the upper 60s at 0550. The minimum temperature (70.6°) was recorded at 0621 while the maximum temperature (84.3°) was recorded at 1545. Dew point temperatures started to lower today, ranging from 73° (early AM) to 60° (late evening) . Relative humidity values also started to lower later today (90% – 45%).  Barometric values started really low during the rain and ultimate passage of the TS Cindy remnants passing very close to our area, ranging from 29.97″ at 2343 to 29.55″ at 0404.

I got up mid afternoon today to get ready for the small 1600-1700 grocery delivery by instacart/Shoppers Food Warehouse. They stayed in good contact with me via text messages, announcing that the delivery would be a bit early, as Gail came at 1540, about 20 minutes early. I got everything delivered into my kitchen and all put away by 1600. I had some cereal and coffee for a late brunch,  and talked with Tracy around 1630 when she was driving into her job in Germantown. I caught up with a few things like snail mail and email before starting dinner.  I heated up a can of “Grillin’ Beans” that I ate half of, then a toasted everything bagel with cajun crab and seafood salad to go along with it.  I had some triscuits and cheese well after dinner plus prune juice and spicy V8 before dinner. I continued to work a bit more on the newly “hatched” Weatherquack weather website which should be fun in the coming months.  I hope some of you out there will join in the fun soon on Weatherquack http://www.weatherquack.com – it is completely free and easy to use once you complete your registration and a short ramping up period.  I have another grocery delivery on Sunday between 1600-2000 from Safeway, where I got some items I could not get in the Shoppers order on Saturday. I also worked more on compiling stats and inputting more data for my May 2017 weather summary report for the NJWO.  I also drank a good part of my ginormous water bottle throughout the evening and early morning hours.

We now have mostly clear skies (for the moment) with just a few wisps of high cirrus clouds glaring off the waking sun.with temperatures in the upper 60s at about 0550.  It should really be partly sunny on Sunday with highs in the mid 80s then highs around 80° and sunny skies on Monday with lows in the upper 50s. I am really looking forward to Tuesday according to the forecast right now – partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s with a 20 POP for an isolated shower. Sunny and a bit warmer on Wednesday, with highs around 80° and lows around 60°.

On Channel 4 radar at 0652, the Eastern US is pretty clear of any meaningful rain radar returns at this time.
