A partly cloudy, warmer AM , cloudy, light showery PM, cooler, breezy evening update for West Rockville Maryland on Saturday, April 28, 2018

Saturday started out cloudy, with dense fog moving in around 0700 and not burning off till around 0915 along with low temps in the upper 40s to low 50s. Visibility was down to less than 0.1 mile, as I could barely see the building across the street. I don’t recall ever seeing that dense a fog since I moved into my apartment early last year. Skies became partly cloudy with sun, as high temps reached the mid 70s by the…

MARCH 2018 MONTHLY SUMMARY AND STATISTICS ROCKVILLE 2.8 WNW MARYLAND

MARCH 2018 MONTHLY SUMMARY AND STATISTICS ROCKVILLE 2.8 WNW MARYLAND

March 2018 turned the tables on our really warm February, so much so that I actually averaged colder in March by about 3° than February. While we were drier in March, because of the colder temps we got more snow in March than in February. There were only 12 days in February with minimum temperatures at or below freezing, in March there were 22, including a streak of 19 straight (from March 8 through March 26 – using rounded values…

Sorry for the temporary hiatus

Sorry for the temporary hiatus

So sorry for a temporary hiatus from posting my daily weather here. I just had some important projects and activities that were quite time-sensitive the past week. I will be posting my just completed weather summary for March in a few minutes. I will resume my regular daily reports in the next day or so. I really haven’t had any rain to report on since my last report until Tuesday, April 24. Light rain, only 0.20″ so far. Heat appears…

The Seventh Tri-State Weather Conference – Saturday, September 29 2018 – Western Connecticut State University – Danbury CT

The Seventh Tri-State Weather Conference – Saturday, September 29 2018 – Western Connecticut State University – Danbury CT

I will post links to the conference schedule and list of speakers when it becomes available later in the year.  I have attended this conference in past years and it is a really good one – plus the Danbury CT area is ablaze in fall color at this time. It is right over from the NY border, and just north of the New York City area.  Kevin http://www.wcsu.edu/weatherconference/   Just updated (late on August 28) this post with the speaker…

Partly sunny, mild AM, colder, windier PM update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday April 19, 2018

Partly sunny, mild AM, colder, windier PM update for West Rockville Maryland for Thursday April 19, 2018

Thursday was partly cloudy, dry and milder in the AM, but by midday, light showers (.01″), menacing-looking stratocumulus clouds (see featured image) building fast from quickly increasing frontal activity and winds started to drop temps in the PM hours once again through the 40s through midnight obs, then into the mid 30s overnight to sunrise currently. Winds combined with the cold to produce wind chill temps sinking down well into the 30s. The Thursday maximum temperature was 58.9 @ 1108…

Mostly sunny, milder, drying out update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday April 18, 2018

Mostly sunny, milder, drying out update for West Rockville Maryland for Wednesday April 18, 2018

I have really been running behind of late, with continued crazy sleep schedules. I am sorry I am very late with my Wednesday report, being written early AM on Friday (finally). This report will necessarily be brief once again, and only include highlights and the basic data for the day. Wednesday was dry, but the sun came out (at least for part of the day) with high temps “soaring” to the 60° level after yet another cold, frosty morning with…
