Light snow started the day, mixing later overnight with freezing rain and sleet, then light rain during most of the daylight hour. Snow to the north, rain to the south, my immediate area was in the battle zone in the early hours but moving north of the area by mid-morning and for the rest of the day.  Monday’s maximum temperature was 33.9° at…

Partly sunny, warmer, snow cover wipe-out update for Sunday, February 3, 2019 from West Rockville, Maryland

Partly cloudy, warmer on Sunday with high temps up in the lower 50s after early AM lows in the mid 20s. The minimum temperature was 26.7° at 0547. Dew point temperatures ranged from a low of 24° @ 0000 up…

Partly sunny, milder, dry update for Ground Hog Day Saturday, February 2, 2019 from West Rockville, Maryland

Partly sunny, milder, dry update for Ground Hog Day Saturday, February 2, 2019 from West Rockville, Maryland

Well the ground hog didn’t see his shadow so we are supposedly in for an early spring. Punxsatawney Phil has had about a 40% accuracy rate the past 10 years so I am not too worried about our snow chances for the next 6 weeks. Partly cloudy, one more chilly early AM (lower teens) then milder PM (upper 30s) with temps getting above freezing and with some sun, the snowpack diminished during the day on Saturday unfortunately.  The maximum temperature…

Cloudy, not as cold, light snow update for Friday, February 1, 2019 from West Rockville, Maryland

Cloudy, not quite as cold, featuring a light snow fall most of the daylight hours. Temperatures rose slowly from the teens overnight into the low 20s by mid-afternoon. Snow pack increased a bit with the light snow falling all day.  The maximum temperature was 21.6° at 1420. The minimum temperature was 14.7° at 0000. Dew point…

Mostly sunny, very cold day with slowly lessening winds/wind chills update for Thursday, January 31, 2019 from West Rockville, Maryland

Mostly sunny, very cold day with slowly lessening winds/wind chills update for Thursday, January 31, 2019 from West Rockville, Maryland

Thursday was very cold, sunny, with slowly lessening winds. My coldest min temperature of the season so far in the early AM (6.3°) was followed by daytime temperatures that mostly held in the teens, easily the coldest day of the year and season so far. The winds not only lessened by late afternoon, but in the evening started to switch around to a light southerly direction that made for a not so cold evening in the teens. Colder mins and…
