Cloudy, light snow early AM, then slow clearing, colder, drying out update for West Rockville Maryland on Wednesday, March 7 2018

On the start of Wednesday, we had cloudy skies with a bit of light snow (0.01″/0.1″ snow) in the first hour or so of the day. Slow clearing much of the rest of the daylight hours, still with some cloudy periods at times (see today’s featured image), but with the snow and low clouds moving off to the east and north during the afternoon. A clear, colder evening, with temps falling into the mid 30s after a low temp for…

After a low temp just below freezing in the early AM, the temperature rebounded into the low 40s in the early afternoon, then cooled off into the evening through much of the 30s during the rain changing to snow evening activity. The Tuesday maximum temperature from the VP2 (43.0°) was recorded…

Mostly sunny, drying out, colder update for West Rockville Maryland on Monday, March 5 2018

On Monday, we had mostly sunny skies and a bit colder temperatures with light winds. Seasonably cold temps topped out in the mid 40s, after lows in the early AM in the mid-upper 20s. The region is still recovering from our weekend windstorm, still with areas out of power and plenty of traffic problems from blocked roads from downed trees. But with the improving conditions continuing on Monday, recovery efforts have been moving on more smoothly. After early AM lows…

On Sunday, storm conditions really went away for the most part, with bright, sunny skies, seasonably cold temps in the mid-upper 40s, and lighter winds than we have been having. The region is still recovering from our weekend windstorm, with areas without power, continued blocked roads from downed trees, and damaged houses and structures from the wind. But with the improving conditions on Sunday, recovery efforts were accelerated. After early AM lows in the low 30s, high temps reached the…

Partly to mostly cloudy, very stormy with high winds, colder update for West Rockville Maryland on Thursday, March 1 and Friday, March 2 2018

Our two day storm on Thursday and Friday started affecting our area just prior to obs on Thursday, with a dramatic, quick increase in the winds into the gale/storm category, and played havoc at key times with my cable TV, internet, and eventually my electric power. It kept me from posting my Thursday report at my usual time early Friday, so with this report early Saturday I am going to produce a briefer summary for Thursday in addition to my…

Partly sunny and milder update for West Rockville Maryland on Wednesday, February 28 2018

Wednesday was partly cloudy and milder, with plenty of sun at times, but a few hints at the stormy weather moving in for the end of the week with increasing clouds late in the day. We finished out February dry and mild, not totally indicative of our general monthly trend of mild and wet. After early AM lows in the low 40s, high temps reached the low 60s by mid-afternoon, but then didn’t drop off as much in the evening…

Clear/sunny colder early AM, then warming up with full sun the rest of the day at West Rockville Maryland on Tuesday, February 27 2018

Tuesday was our first sunny day since last Wednesday, but the day started out before sunrise with widely varying temperatures being reported in my immediate area, dependent on elevation, exposure and topographic nature of each reporting site. Some areas had frost/freezing conditions with temps in the upper 20s-lower 30s, then places like me missed out on freezing temps, holding in the mid 30s after falling off fairly quickly earlier. High temps reached the mid 50s by mid-afternoon, but then didn’t…
